But you can pick a redneck, 'murica screaming, "conservative" and call that a hardcore conservative, but it's not acceptable to pick a random can't read past a 5th grade level, hood rat and consider them a liberal. Liberals don't have enough to claim their lowest common denominator while conservatives do.
your line of thinking is correct, with one exception. while the illiterate hood rat is likely socially liberal, they really have zero political affiliation beyond that. The redneck is a proud conservative in every sense of the term.

But I'm still disappointed with the right for failing to exploit blacks' crazy homophobia. The right strategist could have had the democrats eating each other alive on that one.

The mayors of the 10 richest cities in America are almost all Democrat so......

I'm pretty sure they are the people that don't vote

Not trying to toot my own horn, but I'm fairly intelligent.

There are studies on this. Hard core conservatives have a lower IQ than hard core loberals
Let me guess, academia studied this.
The truth is that the most intelligent people are the most polarized, both to the left and to the right. Weird but true.
And intelligence in academia is pretty insulated from the real world. It's something I'm all too familiar with.

It's funny how "cconservative" is so often used incorrectly contextually.

It's definitely 10-15 points higher than any liberal right off the bat and rises from there.

Do you mean a real conservative? Probably pretty good.
Now there aren't many of them around. Most are right wing redistributionists - as long as the redistribution doesn't go to the poor. Love their special tax breaks, corporate welfare, vouchers for the upper middle class, etc. Those types aren't too bright.

Any study saying otherwise will be brought to you courtesy of liberals funded by our tax money.

I'd guess the opposite. Extremists aren't intelligent enough to understand a different perspective than their own. If they were they wouldn't be extremists.

Edit: the way I phrased it isn't quite right. Those who are more educated are more likely to hold consistently liberal views than consistently conservative views. Those who are less educated are more likely to hold consistently conservative views than consistently liberal views. However, for HS grads, the numbers of people who are at the extreme of liberal/conservative are pretty small and likely not that different in a statistically significant way. But there is obviously a correlation between being more educated and being more likely to hold consistently liberal views.

Conservatives are not noted for their intellectual prowess, so I'd have to be kind and say double digits.

Educated != intelligent.
Unless you believe George W. Bush is far more intelligent than you are.

I agree, but you'd be a fool to believe that there is not a correlation between education and intelligence. The more educated you are, the likelier you are to be intelligent. On a person-by-person basis, you can't assume that an educated person is highly intelligent, but talking about the broader educated population, you can definitely say that they are more intelligent.

I think both political parties probably have a similar distribution (double bell curve), with the left (politically) probably skewed to the left (as far as income) is concerned. The 0-25k/year leans left, while the 25-50k a year leans right. Probably a second liberal peak at around 100-160k/year, while the second republican peak is >200/year.
Intelligence is probably equal, but the smarter rebulicans use their intelligence to make $$, while the smarter liberals don't quite as much.
