If you do google the term, a pic of Bernie Madoff shows up in the results. His clothing was among his possessions auctioned off and I saw all of the various lots. Dude must have had at least twenty pairs of those shoes in various colors/leathers.
ETA: no, I actually knew what they were prior to googling. I know a guy that wears them all the time. He's Italian and in the fashion biz. And no, he's straight.
