When I quit they were essentially being taught to leverage the P&C book of business to sell shitty financial services.

My Allstate guy showed his arse when I mentioned the rate progressive quoted. Then somehow DMV was telling me I had a lapse in coverage after I switched and I could never get the guy on the phone to help me clear it up.

You can’t have loyalty to any corporation anymore. That is a relic of days gone by.

Allstate is the lowest tier of the “captive” agencies.

But, you certainly shouldn’t have any loyalty to a corporation, which is why you see them spending more and more on advertising.

ind it funny too when people act like being an agent is easy, especially

It is easy. My guy does absolutely nothing. His staff all but admitted it when I pressed them on it because of how worthless he was when determining coverage and claims.

I have tried to do that 3 times. This guy apparently fought the paperwork. His staff calls me with sob stories. I just have never pushed it across the line. I didnt follow up

That's pretty much it. They are there to make connections with customers so they will not switch to a different company that offers cheaper insurance because having someone you can feel comfortable talking to is evidently worth paying extra for some people.

With that said, anyone else remember when they were a kid and the insurance rep for life insurance would come by every month or whatever... I actually think it was 3 months for my parents.. They pretty much went around, shot the shite with the family for 10 mins, I remember my mom used to always make coffee when they came over to my house.. They would drink a cup, get the check and split.

When I was older... Mid teens I guess, I was at one of my aunt and uncle's house and their son, my cousin, was 8-9 at the time and I forgot exactly how he phrased it, but their insurance guy came over and my cousin said something like "is that the man who just goes around and collect everybody's money?". My uncle was like "Boy.. go to your room"..

There is no paperwork, you can switch agents online or via the 800 number and your old agent has no say in the matter.

Are you the OR poster that started by selling dental insurance in DC can’t remember the username.

Also - there’s worthless people in every industry. A good insurance agent provides a lot of value.

We have State Farm, and the same agent from 99-25... we always appreciated their facilitating our needs and claims. Our lady retired and we haven't had cause to be in contact with the man that took her business over, hopefully the service remains the same.
You have had State Farm for 26 years?

This is the type of blind loyalty these bastards FEAST on. Not shopping around has probably cost you thousands.

You are probably right... to an extent.

It isn't entirely "blind loyalty"... our needs have been met all these years and over the course of a quarter century, we've appreciated "knowing" the people we do business with.

And we DO know them... I hand-walk my policy premium check in every 6mo and chat with them. I like it, my needs are met... I see no reason to shop around.
