This conflict has mostly to do with oil and feeding the military industrial complex. Clearly. Same as it ever was. Let's not overthink it.

You are correct. For all we know they do not possess the technology to fire a nuclear missile at us... today.
Should we leave them alone then and allow them to someday acquire the technology? Should we leave them to enrich enough uranium to develop a dirty bomb that could be smuggled into the USA and detonated here?
The price of doing nothing now will end up being a price we can't afford to pay. They will nuke us or somebody else if they are allowed the means to do so.
What do you propose we do? Nothing? Sit around and wait for it?

Its the cost associated with total and complete elimination of that threat and the potential devastation Iran could do with conventional arms that has given every administration in the past pause and is why trump has not yet committed to total war and still wants a deal.
So I pose the question to you and others. What cost should we and those in the region be willing to pay to totally eliminate the threat now and forever?

There are some fringe people who almost seem pro-Islamic Republic, but I don’t think those people are very likely to be on tigerdroppings. If you want to see those people, look at some far left like literally communist subreddit or something. Those people’s support of Iran doesn’t really boil down to much more than “anybody who opposes Israel is good”, and the white western tankers either aren’t very knowledgeable of how Iran is (ie oppressing women, forcing sex change operations to make LGB people transgender, and how they treated socialists after the 1979 Revolution), or they are aware of those things but Iran’s anti-Israel stances trumps everything to the white Western tankies.
But although the Islamic Republic is certainly bad, there really was no reason for the US to get involved in this war. There are plenty of other bad governments that we don’t go to war to overthrow.

If Europe Japan and SK would have helped us than it would’ve been pretty simple imo. But they’re useless. I think that caught trump off guard. He did wipeout their main leaders and at some point the Iranian people are the ones who need to stand up and bring change.
