It's been almost 15 years and it may have changed some but I felt like that all business school majors should be required to take the intro ISDS 1100 class and then have a more advanced classes for majors like Accounting for like OP said....learning how to do VLOOKUP, complex Pivot tables, etc... That stuff is valuable in saving time and will should be useful in the real world if you're in consulting or accounting.
Also maybe a class using something like Python or Ruby to give the basics on how to quickly write basic programs to run simulations or calculation. It doesn't have to be groundbreaking but if you've got millions of points of data and you want to process them it'll make life easier.
Also, there needs to be more classes that emphasize how software projects work. Like actually understanding the life cycle and even managing expectations and estimations. No matter how good something is that you deliver if it's only half of what you promised, your client/boss might not be too happy.

I’d add a few welding classes so the soft hand snowflakes could get some callouses

Actually no one in Industry cares about your cpa license or degree once you get some great experience and prove your are competent and not ADD.

If you are going to move into upper management in industry, having a CPA definitely helps.

Id also want to remove MGMT 3200 and MKT 3401. Also bullshite classes that provide nothing of value to the student. I know many will probably disagree with me on this though.
While they are truly BS classes, you have to have a certain amount of business classes to sit for the CPA. Might as well make them easy ones.

I went back to school to get my accounting degree and I chose Athens State in Alabama because it was cheap and convenient. I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed the experience because they have great professors who are there because they want to teach.
They split Intermediate into 3 classes and that's really the way to go. They also have Advanced, Government, and Tax II as part of their basic undergrad curriculum because they don't offer any graduate degrees in accounting. As long as you have 150 hours when you graduate, you meet all the course requirements for the Alabama CPA exam.
It's a sensible, cost effective program. Why not get done in 4 years rather than 5? Earn your other 30 hours by taking cheap community college classes. But schools like LSU (and my other alma mater, MSU) don't have incentive to do that because they'd rather you get a Masters in Tax or MPA.
