What caused this assault in DC?

Looks like it was going to be an attempted robbery then 15 people come from everywhere and brutally attack the dude.

I think it's just the Culcha thing to do. Show up like a flash mob and either destroy a store like a Walgreens or knock a man unconscious then stomp on his head while he is out cold.
