Huh. I assumed the ball just kept rolling when I saw how many titles they have won when this thread made me poke around. Wiki said they won six of the last ten titles.

They've gone down in classification. They still win in their current class but they can't compete with the Parklane Academy and OFs anymore.

Well education and the quality of the student body is a larger concern for us over sports. Their current school is pretty rigorous.
Even though with AI education may not really matter by the time my boys are out of school.

Family matters necessitated a move home.

This can be deceiving until you get in the mix of it. From my experience with schools like this, I'd estimate about 25% of the kids would be able to handle an honors level curriculum. That doesn't mean the others aren't good kids, but there's no advanced pacing for the ones who can take it on.
To me the biggest drawback of these schools is that the clicks are tight and usually make up the board. There will be preferential treatment for those kids over yours. If issues arise, they'll side with their people over you.

Centreville has gone down in the past 10 years.
They just won state in football this year. Bill Hurst's 10th state title.

Is Amite pronounced 'amutee' or 'aymight' ?

Yeah but you get a group of kids with no bad apples it’s a hell of an environment.
I’m talking no locks on lockers, book bags unattended in a pile outside the cafeteria, and not having to worry about theft, etc.
Emotional maturity was high across the board, and when theft or bullying did occur the students took care of it themselves.
There was a legitimate weirdo that literally no one liked and many were disgusted by and people still put forth an effort to be kind.
I mean the “worst” thing that happened while there was a planned event when a group of seniors “broke” in (through a window they left unlocked, no property damage) and threw graffiti mocking the principal using markers that were easily removed.

This is very true and applicable here. But honestly I never really saw any problems, especially to get to that scale.
But you are right the back channels are real. You might find a kid getting called to the office and the verdict is already essentially rendered.

From what I know the typical MAIS schools in this region are very strong academically. I have family members that send their kids to MRA and Parklane Academy. I have friends that send their kids to OF. My kids currently go to a public school but I'm seriously considering sending them to Parklane. Apparently the vast majority of the student populations at these schools go to college and they have very high ACT scores.

That may be possible but wasn't what I experienced. Now they weren't overt shitheads during class, but as soon as there was opportunity to be a shithead to classmates they took it. Sly little assholes who knew their name would erase any transgression.
That's why I say from the outside you see Lily-White All-American Kids but be careful. It's hard to see those true colors from the outside.

Every single student who graduated at OFA last year was accepted into college and average ACT scores are 5 points higher than the state average.

If you say that in front of some MAIS types, you're a dead man. The only reason some of those schools get students is so their white kid gets to play.

Where is MRA?
I know a few people from the Kentwood area that sent their kids to Parklane over OFA. Currently have friends and relatives whose kids are at OFA and doesn’t have any complaints.
We live mid-parish and are torn between OFA and Courtney Christian to send our kids.

I don't see those teams beating Riversiide or AC "ask bad as the want to" if at all.

Fun fact: OFA head football coach (former) is Riverside graduate.

Maybe not as bad as they want to but they are beating them pretty good. Jackson Academy beat an MRA team by like 30 and that MRA team went to Catholic and beat them. Those schools in the Jackson area are the real deal.

MRA is in Madison area near Jackson. Parklane is really our only option unless we wanna make the drive to OF. This thread actually made me do some asking around to my friends and family that have kids at Parklane and OF. They both seem very happy with the education their kids are receiving. I'm not familiar with Courtney Christian so I can't comment on that. My biggest question to my friends and family were if any woke nonsense was in either OF or PA and it was a resounding NO.

Parklane does have more of a reputation for having a preppy stuck up attitude if that matters though.

Depending on perspective, OFA does, too. To OP’s question, if you’re moving to the Amite area, you won’t have a better option academically than OFA, unless you want to drive some distance.
OFA’s athletics are very cyclical, though they have had a good run of success recently.
