Same here. I got books 1-4 as a gift like 15 years ago, and the size of them kept me away. Now that they're about to make them into movies, I had to start.

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Posted on 11/30/15 at 2:18 pm to witty alias
Cuckoo's Nest is a great book. I loved the movie, but the book was even better.
Picked up four books from the library a week or two ago...
"Empire of the Summer Moon" (an OT Book Club recommendation) was very interesting. If Comanches had wallets, they'd be stamped "Bad Mutha fricker".
"The Bedford Boys" was a quick read. Sad story about VA Nat'l Guard troops who were in the first wave at Omaha Beach.
A "Wild" Bill Donovan biography was interesting, if for no other reason than I didn't know much about him, aside from him being in charge of the OSS in WWII.
Haven't finished "Behind The Lines" yet. It's put together from diaries and oral histories, so it seems a little disjointed at times.
I'm on a bit of a OSS/Jedburgh kick because a friend's father recently passed away. He was OSS and parachuted into France twice and China once. I have no doubt he was looking to raise a little mayhem every time. Nicest man you'd ever have the pleasure of meeting, but I don't think I'd have fricked with him in 1944 or '45.

Just read The Liberator: One World War II Soldier's 500-Day Odyssey from the Beaches of Sicily to the Gates of Dachau by Alex Kershaw... it was pretty good.
Now I'm reading some book about the Alamo that's fairly meh.

It is the only book I read and when I finish reading it I then start at the end and read it backward to the beginning.

Last: A Man In Full, by Tom Wolfe
Now: Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace
Would recommend both.

Reading Enemy of God by Bernard Cornwell. It's the story of King Arthur from a different perspective. Historical fiction.
Books on my reading list:
Ready Player One
The Martian
The Man in the High Castle
The past couple The Witcher books

For those that read The Road, did you like it? I want to watch the movie but I want to read the book first. Also, what are some other good books in the same genre?

It's a good book but reading it isn't an enjoyable experience.
