My wife has reviewed mutiple medical reports for pa tints whose previous doctors had prescribed over 70 pills a week for patients with things like back pain, arthritis, and an already healed broken wrist.

why were automobile deaths non existent prior to the early 1900's?

Why have manufacturers continually tried to make their automobiles safer and safer? I mean, not their fault if the car is a death trap, right?

Why does the government have safety standards? Why was OSHA created? There a entities in business that will act with absolutely no scruples.

Sounds like a pain management clinics claims. Or maybe a bad PCP. How many specialties are we encompassing with an idiotic, generalized statement like...

How many GYNS are handing out Oxy? Endocrinologists? Urologists? Cardiologists? Hepatologists?

Pain management is a niche in the healthcare system, and a well known "dirty" niche at that. The vast majority of physicians would never even consider writing an oxy scrip.

anecdotes are anecdotal. were they prescribing 70 Oxycontin? If so that doctor should lose his license, as far as I'm aware the FDA has only approved it for 2x/day use...or 14 pills per week. Am I wrong here? Can Oxy be prescribed for use every 3ish hours?

In these cases, the prescriptions far exceeded that, but that isn't at all part of the problem or relevant to those particular patients, right?

Yes, people should follow the prescribed amounts, but with these pain killers, that amount is often way more than necessary in the first place. It absolutely adds to the problem.

All kratom did was give me a rash, and I bought a supposedly strong strain from an online dealer with a good reputation.

Probably Gary Johnson at this point. Trump is as crooked as they come, and I would never vote for a Democrat to any federal position.

Young Americans don't need to take opioids.
And if this really is a social problem, please come up with an idea beyond jails and prison cells to address it. And then apply it to the millions of other addicts.

Nope mainly Orthos and PCPs. Its not an idiotic generalized statement when I see it every single day.

Looking at one now. 2 years after injury, no surgery, still getting 90 hydro 7.25-325

And that isnt even the worst ones. Just the one that is up infront of me at the moment

I would use medical Marijuana if I could, but nope. Alabama is still in the stone ages, and most voters will vote against someone who supports it.

Is that what your prescription said to do? Serious question, I'm not being flippant.

I'll concede that. Forgot about them, and totally believe you with regard to that specialty.

Pain management is a niche in the healthcare system, and a well known "dirty" niche at that. The vast majority of physicians would never even consider writing an oxy scrip.

you are really trying way too hard to pigeon hole this shite to death... sure, Oxycontin is an opiate that was written by doctors when this shite all sorta kicked off, but really it started mainly with ER scripts for stuff like Lortab, Vicodin, Norco, Percocet, Darvocet (no longer on the market), Lorcet, etc... they used to write this shite ALL THE TIME, and for lengths of time that were way longer than what the patient needed... add in unscrupulous physicians that used to write for the "trinity" (pain med + Soma + Xanax), and it's not hard to realize the origins of the epidemic we face today...

that's what happened to me... had strep, got a script for Vicodin ES 7.5/750mg #30... decide two was better than one (my own fault, no one else's), and ended up loving it a little too much... sent me on a 10 year long course that saw me almost losing everything i ever worked for, accomplished, or loved... including my family...

as i look forward to my 3 year mark of being clean, i understand i made the choices that led me to where i ended up, addicted, but no one can argue that we had safe guards in place, at that time, to prevent many patients that ended up addicts...

then that's on the doctor that prescribed it. Also, pain is a subjective thing and highly variable from person to person, so if you're suggesting that dosages are incorrect, then you had better have something to back that claim up.
