it has been about 9 years since I graduated college, but none of the frat guys listened to WSP or DMB. It was more classic country and classic rock. Apparently, the drummer for WSP was at my wedding and gave us a hand carved bowl that I use to put my change in on my dresser. He lives a couple houses down from my inlaws in Athens. I met him a couple of times after that and was not really what I was expecting from a jam band drummer.

Pretty sure that's not just a frat phase. It's a college white guy phase. I don't really listen anymore, but without getting all groupie-ish about them, they have some talented musicians. Carter Beauford can play the hell out of the drums. I grew up playing drums and was always a fan. Dave can play guitar pretty well too. In concert, they put on a pretty good musical performance if you can get past the dirty hippies dancing in the isles.

Yep.
I was a college freshman over a decade ago. And DMB was no longer "in" and hadn't been for some time even then. I don't think DMB has been popular with that set for a long time unless it's a recent revitilization.

Yes, there are fraternities at UNO. 98% of the guys are try-hard toolbags though. Most are also pretty nerdy

Most frat guys everywhere are try hard tool bags these days. I feel like in my day, we were a lot less self aware. Or at least you tried to pretend you weren't. Maybe time has just distorted my perception though.

Nostalgia Pop-Country is probably more accurate, but Nashville Country definitely dominated the non-rap segment of the evening around the house when I was still involved not very long ago.
That and the same 25 late-night standards that got recycled over and over again.

Where was this, out of curiosity?
I think older Nashville, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Sammy Kershaw stuff would have been played at our house. But nothing resembling the shite out there now, and not even recent pop country like Tim McGraw. Now I think post-frat guys like myself would play some barbecue-stain high school country for nostalgia, but it was too recent back then.
