They should save space and bury people vertically.
That's how my parents will be buried. Mom already is, and they'll put Dad on top when he dies.

if you don't get cremated, how will they spread your remains? Maybe a wood chipper?

Cremation seems kind of neckbeardy to me.

Lot of burned, tossed overboard, left to rot in the sun, thrown in Mass graves, and used as decorations dead people out there.
Even old family crypts after the coffin and body turned to dust anything still there was pushed to the back and a new occupant placed in.

The near-future inevitable is that younger generations will defy their dead old relatives' wishes and do the cheapest thing possible, and I won't blame them. I have old relatives who I bet assume we're giving them some sort of great burial, but nope.

Start looking for crematoriums baw.
Why would I go to those snobbatoriums? All of those places suck. The only reason I go is maybe I'll buy the place

Many of which probably had pre-paid burial policies which thanks to lobbying efforts and law changes, don't even cover the cost of a basic funeral any more.

Visit my daughters grave every weekend.

ETA: My mom was buried in our family plot, and I can't remember the last time I went to see. Out of the way, I don't live in the south anymore, not really viable to travel just to go see a rock, knowing she isn't really there. Memories are more important to me than a permanent landscaping feature

Cremation is how I’m going.
I would be super pissed if my family spent that much money on a funeral for me
