mathematically it will be the same “amount” of schooling.
they’ll just make each of the 4 days longer so the amount of time in classroom stays the same.

realistically, not so much.
back in 2020/2021, thanks to what seems like a hurricane every other week, my son’s school district needed to add a couple days to a end of the year to make up for time missed for hurricanes.

their solution rather than adding full days at end of year was to tack on something like 3 minutes to each class period for the last few weeks of the year.

so sure they were in the classroom the exact same amount of time, but those extra 3 minutes per day was likely nowhere near as productive as the extra full class periods tacked would have been.

Would have enjoyed it. Get a day to smoke weed and bang your girlfriend while parents are working.

I’d love it. About half the time at school is wasted on bullshite already.

You're under the impression that they wouldn't waste half of the time of the new four day school week on bullshite?

Kids in other countries are going to school 30 to 60 days a year more than our kids are going, and we think cutting back is going go help.

I don't believe student performance would be significantly affected by a shift to a 4-day school week, as long as the total instructional time remains consistent. While the idea of families having an extra day together is appealing, it only works if most companies also move to a 4-day work week. Otherwise, this change could put a strain on families with young children who may struggle to find adequate childcare, and it might create more opportunities for unsupervised teenagers to get into trouble.

Kids have trouble not being on phone and computer and paying attention in school.

How would making the school day longer improve this?

If anything, kids need to spend even more time in class.

Is that really that much worse than when these kids go off to college and go to class for 12-15 hours a week?

Something needs to be done - did y’all read this fricking sentence?

It’s great because it allows students weather their falling behind it’s easier for them to catch up because they earn more credits

That’s a quote from the principal, so it was probably written by the reporter.

Antiquated question but ironic for this board. So many on here are so anti-public school they forget the fundamental and personal benefits of it - the largest being the synced up timing of school with the normal 8-5 job. There are a lot of fundamental positives and cost-effective benefits of switching to four ten-hour days, but this question will always be the biggest thing that prevents the change from happening in most any district.

correct grammar is not an opinion - plus we homeschool so schools can do whatever they want

Weather it’s a for or five day school weak, I hope grammar is taught

It’s a tad ironic that you would say this unironically.

Or putting it more nicely: your conclusion rests on the false premise that volume is the issue.
