No impact on my life but that other mans shoes make him look like a soft cheap goofball brokie
I was raised with more class than wearing a cheap hybrid tennis shoe with my slacks
If you are in sales in those shoes I will not be buying

J&M quality has fallen off a cliff the last decade.
I wear Meermin shoes. Spanish, goodyear welt. They are stiff as a board at first, but once you wear them in, they'll last a lifetime. Kind of like a good boot. I've got 3 colors of the captoe and a couple pairs of loafers.
They'll never be as comfortable as some rubber soled monstrosity, but once they're worn in, they are relatively comfortable because of how well they hold their shape and fit your foot.

Same with J&M, not as good as 10 years ago. I have a pair of very comfortable Cole Hanna. I did the Breeze thing and those are comfortable. On Clouds on Friday.
For most of the winter I have Born lace up chukka boots that are one of the most comfortable pair of shoes/boots I’ve ever worn.

Same. Typically I rotate through four pairs during the week.

At one time, Florsheim was the shoe to have and they've fallen from grace and not what they used to be. I've had older Johnson & Murphy's resoled and they've begun to show age but still will do in a pinch.
I've been experimenting with Florsheim since my last few pairs of J&M haven't really stood up. So far, I'm not seeing any difference in quality between the two, with Florsheim at just 1/2 to 2/3 the price of J&M.
