Da parish, New Orleans, and the Northshore. That's as far back as I care because that's as far back as it matters

My son will be the first to not be 100% Cajun french. Can trace my mom and dad's sides back to Canada, then back to France.

I have no idea, but I'm going to do 23 and me to find out.

LINK

I think French and Irish, but that's just going by family names.

If you haven't already pulled the trigger on 23andme, check out Family Finder at Family Tree DNA (FTDNA). I've done both and prefer Family Finder. The price is the same ($99) but FTDNA has much more to offer if you later decide to pursue Y-DNA testing to trace your roots.

Scottish, English, French, German, Dutch, Cherokee.

I am at a dead end on every tree after 20+ years of genealogy. Earliest colonial ancestors that I have documented arrived in 1624. Several more in the mid to late 1600s. Most in the mid to late 1700s.

My great grandfather x5 was a CIC (commander in chief) guard for General Washington from 1780-1783. Great uncle x 5 is Francis Scott Key. I love genealogy.
