In Texas, you keep right.
It clearly says SLOWER next to the state of Texas. Which means that you can drive in the left lane. SLOWER traffic stays in the right.
The comments section says some highways have "left lane passing only" signs but that doesn't mean every single one.

Tailgaters, but when you veer over to the shoulder and kick a few rocks up, they usually get the message.

There's a phrase for that, and it also goes to yet another pet peeve: The texting gap.

Never understood people who give a shite what cars BEHIND them are doing. If they hit you, it's on them, so why not just worry about what's in front of you.
Because for starters, my car is older and paid for, but still runs great. You hit me, the insurance will total the car and force me to have to buy something I don't want. That's the least of problems that can happen.
The worst is if I'm going 80-85 mph and have to brake because of traffic suddenly coming to a stop (which happens daily), and you are 3 inches from my bumper - it ain't gonna be pretty.
So why be a dick just to prove a point. I'm not a slow driver at all, and I usually stay in the right lane to allow for passing. But if I'm going 85 in the left lane and you would rather go 100, then you need to slow the frick down first. And then you need to let me be able to get in the right lane once the car in front of me gives me the chance. Even if you get around me, you're not going to tailgate every car in front of you to a wide arse open lane to do 100 mph in.
So yeah, tailgaters do put others in unnecessary harm. I have a friend who killed a couple that was in a car stopped on the interstate and he slammed into them doing 85 without braking. It's not going to be just a fender bender.
So no, it's not just you that has to worry about the problem.

By the way, when somebody does that to me I go even slower than I wanted to, just to be a dick right back.
shite happened this morning. I'm riding on Gentilly Blvd. going 35 and there's cars in both lanes and I see this dumbass in my rearview mirror going at least 50 fly right up on my car. I immediately took my foot off the pedal. They in turn hastily got in the other land and almost hit my car and the car in front of them in the other lane trying to pass me

Almost destroyed my car because some a-hole lost 4 wicker chairs on I45. Had to swerve into the other lane to avoid them, thankfully no one was in that lane or else I would've been fricked
When your car can be destroyed by wicker, it is certainly time for a new car.
People who don't make a left turn on red onto a one way. I lose my freaking mind when this happens. Seriously.

2. 18 wheelers taking 5 minutes to pass other 18 wheelers because one of them is going 70 and the other one 70.1. frick these guys. Can back up traffic for half a mile

6. Slamming on brakes when you see a cop even though you are going 72 in a 70
I'll add:
1. People riding my arse when I clearly cannot go any faster due to people in front of me.
2. People who do not use their blinker when they are turning right into where I am.

3. People who dont prepare to merge as soon as they get on an onramp. I start looking back immediately and plan my merge. Dipshits seem to not even think about merging until acceleration lane is almost gone.
3a. People who think the ONLY way to merge is to slow down.
7. Assholes going slow because they are on their phone (which is worse, to me, than just going slow).
8. When it starts getting dark (through bad weather or just the sun setting), people not turning on their headlights so others can see them (especially for you asshats in grey vehicles who leave your lights off in thunderstorms, you deserve whatever wrecks you cause).
9. People that speed up only to keep others from getting in front of them, then slow the frick back down.
10. If a cop is going below the speed limit YOU CAN PASS THEM, THEY WON'T ARREST YOU!

Excellent response.
I always look behind, especially at stop signs.
If I see a numbnuts not paying attention, I can ease up and give them some extra space.
People that don't have enough skill to avoid accidents (when they can be avoided) are weak behind the wheel.

I will admit to doing this on occasion, but it's best to resist the temptation to be a dick.
He's an idiot-there's nothing to be gained by getting into accident with him.

People who fill up with gas, then leave their car at the pump while they go inside to shop.

I do that if the station isnt busy.

It's the best way to handle a tailgater. I'm certainly not going to speed up and/or pull a dangerous maneuver just to get out of the way. Now, if I'm in the left lane and a car is approaching and leaves about a car length space, then yeah. I'll get over and let them pass. But coming right up on me inches away, then frick it. The other part of it is that it forces them to slow down to a safer speed as well. I'd rather get hit from behind going 55/60 than 85/90.
Both would suck but my chances improve the slower you get. Like I said, I don't usually camp out in the left lane as a driver. But sometimes I happen to be in the left.

I'm that guy in the fast lane that people in a hurry get stuck behind. No, I'm not pulling over. Seeing the line of cars piled up behind lets me know, that all of them know, I'm the one in control.

I hate people that think a yield sign is a damn red light
People who think a blinking yellow caution light means stop are terrible. The ones who slow down traffic at the caution light piss me off. The ones who pull out on me when I have a blinking yellow, because they think I should have stopped, deserve to DIAF.
