They do. The current owners bought it from the bank when it was repossessed after Derrick's arrest. They didn't really want it, but they own adjacent property, and wanted control over what became of it.
I was in high school with Derrick. He was in the Special Education program.
He is far from a genius. He eluded the authorities for so long because the task force was convinced the suspect was white.
LSP at Angola is in the design phase of a firing squad style method of execution. It would have to be approved by the legislature. All executions here have been suspended due to pending litigation over the lethal injection drugs making them nearly impossible to purchase.

I was a white male living in the area at the time. Despite the fact that the BRPD had the DNA of a black man as evidence, they continued telling the public to be on the lookout for a white male. How many unsuspecting women died because they were not suspicious when this black man came to their door??

Maybe not tea and crumpets, but if this black male was wearing some kind of uniform.... Delivery man, security guard... While she may not invite him for tea and crumpets, she had no reason to believe he was the white serial killer everyone was looking for, so she may have opened the door, which was all he needed..... Smartass!
