Then let's go with cars. People had horse drawn carriages for millenia. The car was invented and everyone had one within a couple decades.

Electricity and the automobile (in its various forms). Those helped propel America's growth from the late 1800s through the 1970s.

We hopped along pretty good with technical innovation until we started to get down to sub-micron technology. All sorts of bad shite happened in a confined space, and technical innovation was limited.

I don't want to get too technical, but a miracle occurred.

After this was solved, we could carry powerful computers and communication devices in the palm of our hand that made it easy for people to swipe left or swipe right.

Smokeless gun powder. Went from mostly single shot weapons to multiple shot weapons = war never the same again.
