The Barber Motorsports Museum in Leeds is great and worthy of multiple visits because only a third of the collection is on display at any give time. Going on a race day is fun, and if you can get in on a class/school type tour you can tour the basement area where they work on restorations. I've been a few times to Haas sponsored events. They always feed you well, too.

Top Of The Rock Museum in the Arkansas Ozarks. Amazingly done covering local Civil War, Native American and Dinasour history. It blew me away, was not expecting how extremely nice this place is.

National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center
Fort Benning, GA. It's something to behold. You could spend 2 days in there and not see everything. Try to schedule it on a day they have an open house at the Armor and Calvary Museum. (separate facility) That's another awesome site to behold. Over 200 armored vehicles since the very first one up until present along with many Soviet armor models. Seeing the German WW II Tiger tank was awesome. I had no idea they were THAT big. It's actually as big or bigger than our current M1 Abram tank. Easy to understand why literally everyone was terrified of it. Both museums are completely free.

If you enjoy baseball, our Louisville Slugger Museum here in Louisville is a must.
Bonus if you get here during the MLB season when they’re actively making bats.

The Museum of the War in the Pacific in Fredericksburg Texas is a much better WWII museum than the NOLA one, having been to both. Plus, they do live flamethrower demos. The museum is there because that's the hometown of Admiral Chester Nimitz. The original museum building was the hotel owned by his parents.
The Museum of the American GI in College Station is not very big, but all of their armor, some of it very rare, is in running condition, and when they have their annual outdoor demo day, a lot of other armor comes in and you can either watch it drive around or even buy a ride in it. They also do flamethrower and MG demos.

Museum of Art in Dallas has a ton of stuff painted by the masters. I saw a Picasso, Monet, and Rembrandt. Also have a modern wing with some Warhol and Jackson Pollock stuff. If it’s considered a museum the Perot Science thing is really cool.
Still my favorite is the WWII museum in NOLA.

The Vicksburg Civil War Museum and battlefield is very cool too.
Its undergoing some renovations right now so keep that in mind
