I don't buy used cars. I'm certainly not buying a used mattress. Buying nonperishable items in bulk is great bang for your buck.

I would never buy a used mattress unless I specifically knew the person that owned it, like a parent who used it in their guest room or something.

I rarely buy new furniture. I wait until someone I know or someone a friend knows is buying new and I’ll take their hand me down if I’m in need. I can always wait.
Tires. I bought 2 “new” tires at the Honduran tire place nearby. $65 each and they put on and balanced. Seems someone didn’t want them on their new car and made a trade.
I’ll buy most things 2nd hand in price isn’t close to new price as long as it’s someone I know or a friend knows.
