"Aks."
I had a 3rd grade substitute teacher, AA woman, try to tell us AKS was legit.
She used it in class. I challenged her, 8 yrs old.
She defended it.
I even told my mother about it at home later.

Nuclear pronounced as "nuc yoo ler"
Jimmy Carter pronounced it that way all the time and he served on a nuclear powered submarine. He, of all people (being the commander in chief as well) should have been able to say the word correctly.

Sim yoo ler for similar.
Also, irregardless isn't a word. But people think it is.

Yeah. "should of" instead of "should have" That one drives me frickin' insane.

Being in the construction world I hear a lot of old timers call a schedule a "sked-jew"...drives me nuts.

alumni...when referring to a singular person, i.e., "I'm an LSU alumni". Drives me nuts.
Should be "alumnus" (if male), or "alumna" (if female). The male plural is "alumni". The female plural is "alumnae"...though it is acceptable to use "alumni" when referring to a mixed group of men and women graduates.

That's pretty bad. George W says hello. 8 years in office and nobody told him to pronounce it correctly?
