Iron skillets made 100 years ago were better than any made today.
they really were
I have my grandmother's old iron skillet and was comparing it to a new lodge skillet.
The lodge is thiner and has a rough grain. The old skillet is heaver with a much smoother surface.
Same here. Have a Griswold I got at an antique store and a brand new Lodge. The Griswold is much smoother and nicer. It seasons much better as well.

When our washer crapped out I went hunting for an old Maytag and found one for $100. It is a beast. I don't care about how it looks either. Who hangs out in the laundry room?

You can't buy a good water hose these days. My "never kink" kinked in less than 2 years. Also the new gas cans suck.

Doc martens, toilets before water conservation, and most children's toys....plastic just isn't as durable as metal and wood.

Look how big the pants and jackets are. The jackets are at least two sizes too big.

Maybe lower tier lawn equipment but you can't tell me an old snapper lawn tractor is better than a good ZTR.
I have a snapper that my grandfather purchased that I use regularly during the summer. I've only replaced the tires and some small bushings bc of dry rott, everything else is original.

The quality of Sperry's have gone down significantly. My first pair lasted me nearly 4 years. Had two more pairs that I stretched for a couple of years each, but neither one looked very good after the first year. The insoles both wore out within a few months.
My last two pair lasted less than a year each. The midsole material has changed, and becomes detached from the shoe. Also I walked through the sole on my last pair in about six months.

Cole Haan has gone down considerably. I have a pair I consider their last of good quality. They have lasted me several years.

I swear I think the marriage was to turn Cole Haan into an orthotic-dress hybrid or some shite. Absolutely awful.

I think a lot of it is the materials that are now used. Many shoe companies are sacrificing durability for out of the box comfort.

Old cars are awesome if you like cabin noise.
