Umpiring and refereeing. You can easily make 40-60k just on the side. Not a hobby exactly but it can fund a lot of shite for very little effort especially volleyball

I’ve picked up magic the gathering recently

Yarrrrr...ye be havin' that hungry magic monkey on yer back, do ye? She's a cruel bitch, and will take it all from you. One day you're fine with openin' a pack 'r two.

Then it's a booster deck.

Next yer fiendin' for a booster BOX.

It's all downhill from there. You'll be havin' a taste for the vintage. Bidding on Ravnica packs on eBay.

Getting scammed on a fake Cradle.

Next thing you know you're buyin' a box of Urza's Saga in an alley from some guy named "Karn."

Ye'd best shake that monkey now and don't look back, or it'll be takin' all yer money, and yer sanity.

Gods...tell me ye don't be havin' a binder yet.

Learn how to play a musical instrument. You can get a decent guitar without spending a lot. A million free teaching/lesson resources.

There are so many cool things to do out there that don’t cost much money. Sickens me to hear people talk about how they’d be bored if they retired. Losers.

Find yourself an old car. Parts are surprisingly cheap and YouTube is your friend.

I would say collecting baseball cards (vintage) but that can, will, and is expensive if you are after bigger cards.

Except the excessive cost of running shoes these days

In all fairness, advancements in running shoe tech over the past 5 years or so have been monumental.

Playing darts. For about $150 or so you can pick up a new dart board, a set of decent darts, a backboard to mount the dart board to and a simple dry erase scoreboard to keep score of the game.

I may have to check this out. I have also been checking into folding pool tables that I could put in my garage. The only time I pull my 3/4 ton truck into the garage is when a bad storm is coming being it is to long to fit.

Building model rockets. It’s not very expensive and takes a good bit of time, especially if you don’t buy any parts from the model rocket companies. Then, you get to launch them and hope that you can recover them. A lot of fun. I have 2 ready to go now.

I think I'd pass on any folding pool tables. I believe you'd be very disappointed with how they feel and play, especially if you've been playing on regulation pool tables in the past. Good pool tables are big and heavy for a reason.
