re: What are all the bookies going to do for a living now?

They will be just fine. When you win too much money and too often the casinos start to limit your wager size. They love you when you bet 10k and only win 50% of the time. When you continually drop large wagers and start taking their money 70% to 80% of the time they label you a pro and won’t let you bet $500. The pros often hire runners to get their money down. Large books will take big wagers and lay their liability down with other books across the country.

Legalized gambling makes bookies more money
This has been proven time after time

If they allow people to bet on credit. But that can be a double edge sword because it can get people in a big enough hole they are not able to pay. Then if they don't pay they have to do shite to try to get them to pay like go up to their wives in public and tell her in front of everyone she is talking to that her husband owes x amount, etc.

The betting world maybe the subject commented on with the most pure unadulterated blind ignorance of any subject on TD. Here’s a lesson for all the retards.
If I bet $100 on a spread of 3.5 points game. Which literally does not mean anything relevant to the actual game but how the money is being bet on said game. Bookies won’t the betting line to be equal on both sides. BECAUSE if I bet $100 I have to place $102 and if I win get paid $100. If I lose I pay $102. The bookies make all their money on the $2’s. They want a equal
Number of wins and loses. Hence the .5 points which also turns the odds in there favor. They get two number either side of the spread. You bet 3.5 and final
Is 3 point game more lose. You bet 3.5 and score is 4 more lose. It’s ALL about the money. If a spread raises or lowers it’s not because a team is getting better or worse. It’s because the money is swinging to one side.
For the love of god please learn these tips TD and stop the LSU is favored by 3 so we should win threads. should win. That just means Vegas think LSU MIGHT win so they have to tip the scales to the other team to equal the money.

Speaking of, how do people lose thousands of dollars with bookies?
Do they lose constantly on the spreads, stupid over-the-top betting, or just addiction.
Would a bookie cut you off if you owe to much? Just curious about the logistics that lead to catastrophic loss.

Tons of students bet weekly, hell daily around campus. They can't exactly move over to the apps with their fake ID.

Yeah, maybe if they only owe a few hundred or so, you owe a bookie a bunch of money and they are not going to just talk to your wife

Can you rewrite that today to make it more coherent? I see it was posted at 1:00 am and looks like some good info but can barely follow it. TIA.

I haven't had a bookie in 20 years but that's how I used to figure it. He wasn't a mean, tough sorta guy. He was a in and out college student that lived in an apartment complex off Jefferson and conducted is business at Fairway View apartments bar.
I never thought he'd kneecap me if I didn't pay, but I still didn't want to chance it. I once owed him big after a terrible weekend where I went 1-7, trying to win my earnings back on Sunday but kept losing. He gave me a few weeks to pay him off and even let me place a few bets in the meantime.

Made about $700 last night on the BetMGM app from the comfort of my recliner while enjoying a good scotch. Bout damn time they do this. Although I will miss my trips to the Beau Rivage.
ETA: Three very easy parlays on Timberwolves/Suns, money line on Redwings, and money line on Knicks/Bucks.
