Honestly, it would have been Pearl Harbor over 9/11 IMO, if the technology for media were equal. The reason is that America at the time already knew it was on the brink of war, considering what all was going on in europe at the end of '41.
9/11, while historic and tragic, along with all of the ramifications, was a "singular" event. Pearl Harbor was the catalyst that started the American involvement in WWII.
