We are going to play sporting events... but without fans.

We are going to have remote instruction... but we are going to still have people come to campus to go to work.

What am I missing? If this is about to get bad, shut it all down. if it's not, why are we doing this?

Why are we half-doing this?

Plenty of interstate and international travel to see the games.

It's to let it run its course in the people who have it, and then we can come out of our caves to rebuild civilization.

Bc limitation is key with a virus like this. The big risk, the thing that’s causing Italy to have a close to 7% mortality rate, is overburdening hospitals. Thus the more mitigation there is the better.

As someone said in another thread, New Orleans getting 20k infected in a year is one thing, getting 20k infected in 2 months is another

Maybe I'll be one to drop dead from it, but I am having a hard time getting worked up over this crap. So its just a bad strain of the flu?

You’re right, if we can’t accomplish 100% prevention, we should just do nothing

That’s fine if you don’t eat the bread.

Do you not understand people flying from other places, congregating in one place, then flying back to their respective homes? Thousands of cities could be infected from one event. You limit it to the players, small groups of family, and essential media, and it's easier to make sure no one in the building is infected or can spread it.
