Is a 50 yo man dating a 27 yo woman socially acceptable?

I’ve always thought the ‘half your age and add 7’ rule works well.

That means a 50 yo man with a 32 yo woman is copacetic.

Full disclosure...I’m 45 and my wife is 37.

Depends on the age of the youngest party IMO.

For example, a 50 year old dating a 40 year old doesn't seem odd. A 20 year old dating a 15 year old does.

My father in law is 55 and is dating a 30yo

My wife is 11 years younger than me

Sorry that you let yourself go OP. Fricking a 20 something really takes the sting out of turning 40

I don't think a 50 year old dating someone in their late 20's would be too bad, as in a couple of years, she would be in her '30s. I do think the age gap would just cause some issues, though.

For me it’s what we have in common. If I ask a girl what the best Zeppelin album is and she gives me a blank stare: too young.

I'm 36 and my wife is 32. That works for us.

That would be 25 for me. I can't imagine being with a 25 year old at this point in my life.

That’s the rule.

ETA : unless you’re Saint. Then it’s half your age and subtract 7.

There is no restriction except for under age or barely legal. After everyone’s 19, it’s all a matter of consent. But if the spread is too great then you won’t relate to each other and it won’t work for more than a short time.
