Stupid in the sense that they don't know who Vladimir Putin is: 90%

Stupid in the sense that they don't know who Joe Biden is: 50%

Stupid in the sense that they can't identify their own state on a map: 25%

A lot of our population consists of arguably well rounded individuals (fat) who may lack some common sense and know next to nothing about history, the world, etc., but can socialize reasonably well and come off as not an idiot in average conversation. This is the product of schools teaching people to think critically without actually giving them a knowledge base from which to think critically.

Hence, when they do those shows where they show us how dumb we are, you get a lot of "Oh I think he's been wonderful, he's doing the best he can given a difficult situation in Congress" responses (reasonable in tone and structure) to questions like "How is Mitt Romney doing as President"
