Extremely lower emissions. When the "Grid" goes down, Zero emissions.

We never learned one thing from the USSR.
Name a product that the Soviets exported? We, IMO, are at the tipping point.
Government bureaucrats. don't invent nor produce useful products. They just thwart inventors from producing better products.

Why not just make a non plug in hybrid version of the same ice vehicle?

Why are these people stupid?

It’s like, oh let’s just skip a generation of vehicles people would be ready to adopt now.

Isn't the tax credit means tested? So not everyone will receive the $7,500 rebate.

Can we do the scheduled maintenance costs now? That $10-15K battery pack loses 20% capacity at 300-500 charges, all downhill from there. and total replacement at an average of 7-10 years that leaves the vehicle useless until replaced.

I'm all for new innovation, products, etc.... but let the market decide and get the gov't thumb off the scale.

If you're going to use it for communting, drive one at highway speeds on our roads first.

If it's going to be just a car for local trips, it's probably fine.

Lighty used ones can be had for a relatively cheap price, so something to consider

No price parity ....You, the taxpayer that wants no part of this, are paying the price for this foolishness.

Come January, that will all be gone .....Now take your matchbook car and see if anyone will give you your asking price ....for stupidity ....

Truckers are saying once you reach Fort Worth, ther are no charging stations until California.

Or you could get a low mileage well kept 90s-00s model for under 10k

EVs aren’t cars, they’re soulless appliances

Rental car companies are dumping their EVs on the secondary market. You can get better deals with low mileage, and still get the credit.

Power plants are more efficient at producing electricity than vehicles are at internal combustion, even when using fossil fuels in both scenarios

So either way somebody is burning hydrocarbons for energy.

You actually need me to prove that a Power plant is more efficient than a car?

An internal combustion engine loses around 80% of the energy that goes into it. A coal-burning power plant loses around 68% of its energy.

The average operating efficiency of a natural gas power plant in 2020 was 44%, meaning that 56% of the energy in the gas was lost.

Maybe, maybe not .

But you couldn't pay me to drive a shitty EV and that is 100%.

There's no maybe about it. More energy is lost to heat in a relatively small ICE engine than in a facility specifically dedicated to creating energy.

In a state like Louisiana, where the majority of our energy comes from natural gas, EVs are even more efficient. We also get a lot of our grid power from our 2 nuclear plants.

Not as inefficient as hauling gasoline/diesel to a gas station
