It's remembering the life of your loved ones after they have passed by bringing them did and drinks and enjoying it with their spirits.
. To me no more odd than eating and drinking the blood and body of your God as Catholics do world wide.

Demon worship?
The people who do DdlM worship the holy trinity and mother Mary. Not demons.
The FACT is people are ignorant and make up what they think this is rather than understand it.

It's not and all those Mexicans are Catholic as shite too. But if you really want to be freaked out by some American religiosity, go to Pentecostal Church. I was taken to one of those when I was a kid and to this day, I'm not the same. It freaked me the frick out.

The majority of my family is buried there.

I’m not offended, don’t really care.

So respect other cultures and traditions, but don't expect the same in return?

Day of the Dead is about celebrating death.

No it isn’t, dumbass. It’s about celebrating the lives of your loved ones who are no longer here.

There it is. Can't have anything "different"!
Why should the people who have lived there for generations “have anything different”?

Why shouldn’t the people who moved there “have anything different”?

Why must the people who have lived there the longest have to acquiesce?

It's perfectly reasonable to not want a party on your dead loved ones grave, especially when it is not part of your culture/belief system.

Oh, I get it, the soul stays in the body in your culture.

Lol. Oh the horror

I'm sure the Catholics have felt disrespected many times throughout history and they got over it.

It'll all work out.

Pretty trashy to have a celebration at a cemetery. There's a couple of empty lots they could do it on Stumpf Blvd just two minutes away.

Different cultures view death in different ways. Or maybe we cope with death in different ways (earnestly versus robust, vibrant celebration).

This is a weird one bc I think it’s a cool holiday and I appreciate taking a day to truly celebrate the dearly departed. I also get why people are unsettled.

The illegals can GFT and so can anyone supporting them. Deport them all, vertically or horizontally.

In the small country cemetery located in Vernon Parish where my grandparents, aunt and uncle are buried they have "Grave Yard Working" day. This happens once a year and it's an event where repairs to tomb stones, general cleaning and up keep takes place. Families make a day out of it bringing food, working around the graves and reminiscing while the kids run and play in the grave yard. I haven't been in years but it wouldn't surprise me if they play music today. How is the Hispanic celebration much different?

The less traveled are the most unsettled. This is true in every single case. They are afraid of the unknown.

This sounds awesome.

The Hispanic version has face paint of some colorful skulls and possibly a parade. I think the face paint scares people.

Other than that, its the same. Family, food, love, respect, and remembrance.
