"Upholstered" can mean many different wild and wonderful things in Morgantown!

So if you’re reading this topic, don’t have much going on, your choices are West Virginia, Northwest Arkansas, and the middle of nowhere Oklahoma.
Tulsa is definitely not middle of nowhere. It’s a more relevant place than Lafayette or any city in Louisiana not named New Orleans.

West Virginia will now give you $12,000 to move to its state and work remotely
But then you would be living in West Virginia
It is great during the fall but the rest of the year it is not worth it.

quote:IIRC, there's a bar in White Sulphur Springs that's owned by a guy from NOLA. I spent most of a week in WSS one winter for work about a decade ago. I have a distinct memory of crawling on the sidewalk back up the hill from his bar to my hotel after a late night of Guinness and scotch.
White Sulphur Springs.

I thought it was neat until I saw the Intuit chairman behind it. Now I’m pretty sure it’s an attempt to turn WV blue.

That was my first thought. Not gonna happen. Virginia is making WV become more red all on its own. I moved here four years ago. I work “in” DC. Happy as hell to have left VA.

I hope this program does well for WV. Im a native and miss it. My parents still live there, though and I have season tickets for WVU football, so I do get back often. I'll be curious to see how this goes.

Why they gotta be white springs?

I took the kids to the Mothman museuam last year on the way to Father-in-law in Florida. It was a tourist trap, but a nice small town.
Love the old mountains...Property values are still too high.
Better than that damn fearless girl statue.

You haven't been to Cabell, Wayne, Mingo, and Lincoln counties, have you? Central and eastern part of the state is beautiful. West (Parkersburg and west) and southwestern (from Huntington south) part is for shite though.

Beautiful state, lots of stuff outdoors today. No different than Eastern KY. But Huntington and Charleston, not so great.

Bentonville put in some sweet bike paths. It was showcased in bcpov on YT.

Gotta go to Charlestown. Between the track, casino and vixens you don’t need much else.

Agreed about eastern Kentucky. Was raised in Ashland. Wonderful place to be from. Better place to not be going back to. (It was a nice town in the seventies and early 80s, but not much left these days.) Prestonsburg, Pikeville, Allen, Inez, Betsy Lane, Midas, Pippapasses and other towns in eastern KY fall into my idea of strangely interesting, but certainly not places I'd like to live.
Old family tobacco farm on Mom's side is in Lincoln County (Griffithsville, WV). In retrospect, those 256 acres are nice to look back on in old photos and home movies, but I wasn't particularly fond of it when I was kid and we'd visit. It was plain depressing to make that two hour drive up and two hours back through Salt Rock, or Hurricane (depending on whether you took Route 10 or 34).
Once you head east out of Charleston and up Old US 60 through Gauley Bridge and up Big Sewell Mountain things start to look really neat and the beauty of the state finally takes hold. And New River Gorge is absolutely beautiful!
