Where were all these games when I was a kid?

A 15-year-old boy was killed when he was struck in the head while playing a game of "dodging arrows" at a friend's house, and criminal charges could be possible, authorities said Monday.

Caleb Fairchild, an eighth-grader, was playing the bow-and-arrow game Saturday evening when he was hit by an arrow in in Chapmanville, about 45 miles south of Charleston, West Virginia State Police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous said. No parents were around when Caleb and two other kids were playing in a front yard, said State Police Sgt. C.R. Sutphin. The ages of the others involved weren't released but authorities said they were minors.
quote:Ya think?
"I've been a policeman for almost 25 years. This is the first time I've ever heard of it," Sutphin said. "They were just goofing around, thought it was a good idea. It's just a bad decision, if you ask me."
quote:Maybe the other 2 decided that they didn't like the kid any more and planned this all out?
The motivation behind the game wasn't immediately clear.

At least they didn't play dodging bullets?

It doesn't sound like he dodged all the arrows

I'm pretty sure the motivation is to not get hit by the arrow.
Sad for the family that they will have to live with this for the rest of their lives.
Appropriate time for the Walton and Johnson-loving, Redneck, retard favorite quote of "play stupid game games and win stupid prizes."

Kid deserved it. I can tell by his haircut.

In his defense I once shot an arrow straight up to see how high it would go.
The moment it froze mid air and started back down I instantly regretted my decision.
I took off running like a little bitch. It landed over 100 yards away.

I wish Walton and Johnson would play dodging arrows and lose.

Sixth-grader Carlee Adkins said she started dating Caleb on St. Patrick's Day. The last text message she received from him on Saturday evening was, "Bye babe, I love you."

1. Sounds like an action-packed twist on William Tell.
2. I've spent time in that area, and this is anything but shocking.
3. That was a terribly written article for the AP, even considering the low-tier news.
4. I know it's WV, but these ages and grades seem off, and the "dating" and "bye bye I love you" stuff is confusing and tangential.
5. Criminal charges seem absurd--are they suggesting against the parents? The parents of every kid I played with growing up would have been imprisoned under this standard.

A 15 year old 8th grader dating a 6th grader is a classic West Virginia love story.

He'll be haunting that holler the rest of eternity. This is exactly the beginning to a good ghost story. Poor kid
