Can’t believe it took you this long to get in this thread knowing how much you love road construction. Are you a contractor, materials guy, or equipment dealer?

I’m someone who knows how much shite costs. And it never ceases to amaze me how many other people do not.

People bitch about roads then bitch about paying for a Road then bitch about sitting in traffic then bitch about some state rep who supported a Road bill but voted against abortion so frick him and his Road bill.

These people would bitch if they were hung with a new rope.

It’s a new access road that is desperately needed. It is being paid for by someone else. fricking appreciate it.

When the current bridge over the inter coastal which is f rated is shut down completely, not just one lane this road will be needed and appreciated.

If the people of WBR want this, put a toll on it.

Is this a serious comment? The people of WBR may be pushing it, but good god man, don't you see how this helps Baton Rouge (and Denham Springs and Gonzales and so on )??

If, say, 6% of the big trucks (and cars) that come from Lafayette, Lake Charles, Houston, etc. now cross LA-415, and then take the LA-1 South exit to get to Dow, Air Liquide, Brusly, Plaquemine, etc.....

if those HUNDREDS of vehicles per hour exit at the "New LA-415 South" and bypass over TWO miles of I-10, right at the Mississippi River Bridge approach...

you don't see how that helps Baton Rouge at 4:30pm Mon-Fri? Well then I can't help you!

They don't get it, because they're ignorant. They think it's just a bunch of people who live on the west side that make up the biggest portion of traffic woes. Nevermind the fact that there are 7-8 plants on that side with thousands of employees. No, let's just forget that or brush it off as merely saying "it contributes". It doesn't contribute. It is the problem. It's why the traffic is horrendous. Do we really think all those cars on LA-1 is people simply going to town at rush hour? Most people I know who were born and raised on the West side and live there now absolutely detest going to Baton Rouge for anything, because of the traffic.

You have I-10 traffic, and then this huge bottleneck of thousands every evening trying to merge on at the base of the bridge, and you get the clusterfrick every afternoon.

Let's play it out. They build the extender. One of these years, they finally get off their arse and vote on the new bridge, connecting Plaquemine to St. Gabriel. Then they expand Hwy 30 all the way to I-10. There's your southern portion of the loop. Will take a huge chunk of traffic out crossing the bridge every evening. And the new bridge itself would take a huge chunk out of the plant workers driving through Baton Rouge to go home.

Oh I do appreciate it. That’s why I’m here defending it!

I really appreciate the fact that it’s being paid for without a new tax. Pour all the asphalt and concrete you want with the money. As long as it’s for legit infrastructure.

But to the point, what do you do? What gives you such insight as to what “shite costs”? Are you an estimator for this industry? DOTD guy?

What do you do? How much money do you make? Where do you live and how much is your mortgage?

What I do doesn’t matter and is not of your concern.

damn, you're a defensive little count aren't you? Chill bro. I was just wondering how you know so much about road construction. No need to go full tin-foil-hat on the question.
