Id love to know what percentage of the workforce you think this is compared to your arguement that were have a systematic problem of people not going back to work due to unemployment benefits.

The math on that just doesn't reconcile.

No one with a brain is arguing that unemployment fraud isn't going on, it is. It's just not the sole issue or as prevelent as you are arguing, probably by 10x

They wanted a national $15/her minimum wage and knew they couldn't get it passed through a vote so they paid low income earners to stay home and now it'll cost much more that $15/hr to get them off their couches and back to work.

Do they really want it though or just want the political clout for achieving it?

You can't. No one is arguing that... what those of us who have experienced the issue first hand are trying to tell you all is this...

quote:

We've had multiple fraudulent reports come in against us. Employees that used to work for us had claims come in against us. We spoken to those employees and they are all working and haven't filed. That means that someone knew they used to work for us and filed a claim.

We've called the state unemployment office to report it. It's a joke. No one answers the phone or returns a call. They are overwhelmed with the volume of requests and questions. We sent a letter and just gave up.

This is the shite that is going on.

But still, these are an entirely different group of people who would pull this stuff anyway. I'm not denying that these types of people exist, as I have many in my family back home that fit the bill. I'm saying that they are not plentiful enough in numbers to disrupt the labor market of an entire nation.

This isn't just relegated to service jobs. I don't know about other industries, but accounting firms are having a tough time finding qualified people. Are the qualified accounting grads sitting at home collecting unemployment because they feel that's the right career move? No. There's a labor shortage due to several different factors.

The economy is not your single industry. And while I don't think anyone pushing back against the unemployment trope believes that it isn't happening, we are saying that there is more going on and that those people are affecting such a small percentage of the problem it's not worth complaining about. People who are not working because they are collecting unemployment would be doing the same thing even if there wasn't additional unemployment.

You just fricking said you had 5 people quit to go on unemployment.

quote:

We've had multiple fraudulent reports come in against us. Employees that used to work for us had claims come in against us. We spoken to those employees and they are all working and haven't filed

This isn't even remotely close to what you said

quote:

This is the shite that is going on.

Yes, it is, by I would surmise less than 2% of the workforce. But, again, thats not what you originally argued, and two now tell me about the other 8 or 9 million people.

Here's your exact quote less than 30 minutes ago, is your brain that short circuited?

quote:

Dude I literally had 7 employees quit last week. 5 of the 7 straight up told me that they can make the same amount sitting at home and don't have to do anything to get it.

No doubt. But there is a trickle down effect. For example... lumber shortage. Little to no lumber/expensive lumber means that the housing market is shite. Who does that effect then? Plumbers, roofers, contractors, dirt work, electrical, realtors, etc. etc.

By the employees she is trying to get to come back to work.

Why would you go work a register at Petsmart for $10 an hour when you could make $10 an hour or more on your own schedule doing Uber eats?

They didn't have this problem before the government checks started flowing.

Nobody has provided any evidence in any of these threads

what do you want, a survey of people sitting at home in which they state that they'd rather collect unemployment than go to work?

I agree that anecdotes are not evidence, but I'll reiterate:

you have to be a fricking idiot not to see what's going on.

so I suppose if the shoe fits, you and Mingo can go ahead and wear it.
