Thousands? Sure. We are a country of 300 million. Are we pretending like these aren't the same people already labeled by conservatives here as welfare queens and losers anyway?

Those are and always will. However, there are plenty of able bodied people who would normally be working, and they aren’t right now because of government handouts disguised as unemployment benefits.

Prove it. Show me where it says the only reason the state is opening up is because of the recall. And what about New York, hm? NY will open up fully by July 1st. Is there a recall there we don't know about?

These states were hit very hard by the pandemic so they may be a little gun-shy.

Dude I literally had 7 employees quit last week. 5 of the 7 straight up told me that they can make the same amount sitting at home and don't have to do anything to get it

Report them to the workforce commission then

Also, I don't believe you

I don't think so. Here's your problem. Either those people have a work ethic or not. If they have a work ethic, they're going to be working anyway. If they don't, they still would find other ways around it or being the generally unreliable employees they already were.

It's just political theater and MAGAtards trying to cope with a loss they didn't see coming. FWIW I didn't either as I bet on trump winning.

You have zero fricking clue what you're talking about. Yeah, sure. I can "report" them and waste my time doing so...

You can't just quit your job and go on unemployment. The employer has to ok it.

Everything doesn’t have to be on the internet to be real. I can’t link what I see every day. The “help wanted” signs everywhere should be evidence enough.

Why would I be afraid of it when you idiots have already made up your mind that's what I am? Your argument makes zero logical sense, but that's no surprise.

That's like saying you don't vote because it doesn't make a difference and then complaining about the result.

That's some pussy shite.

Well, for one, I think you are generally full of shite. And two your 5 out of 150 million people exame doesn't exactly sway me when other macro economic data points in the opposite direction.

Correct... The issue right now locally here, is that smaller service companies with 100-300 employees and essentially one person handling HR are being inundated with bogus unemployment claim "checks". So much so that people are driving around picking out random service companies and listing them as their employer. When the verification comes in, because there are so many, plenty have been able to fall through the cracks. If the workforce commission doesn't receive any response, they are simply "OK'ing" them. In the past, they would call to verify if they had not received a response.

When I was growing up, I saw a guy riding a horse in my neighborhood every day. Does that mean every neighborhood had a guy that rode a horse around?

Just because you see something in your little corner of the earth doesn't make it true overall

Should they? Or have people left the service industry for something else leading to the shortage?

Your thought is incredibly simple, but not surprising.

All this for an extra $300/wk? What do they normally get paid?

Show me some statistics that this is true. Just because you repeat it over and over again doesn't make it so.

Places have been back to business as usual for what, a month?

You can't just staff back up overnight

I'm sure you won't accept that as "evidence", but you have to be a fricking idiot not to see what's going on.

How can those with a logical viewpoint on this matter debate it with someone who thinks that their single data point constitutes evidence?

Nobody has provided any evidence in any of these threads, and I'm starting to lose faith in a lot of people's ability to think critically.
