For example... lumber shortage. Little to no lumber/expensive lumber means that the housing market is shite. Who does that effect then? Plumbers, roofers, contractors, dirt work, electrical, realtors, etc. etc.
I agree with you. But what does that have to do with the claim that there is a labor shortage due to extended UE benefits?
Are you saying that these people were laid off and now they are called back to work but want to stay on UE? Because the lumber shortage is in full effect right now, so that doesn't really make sense.
I honestly am not sure where you are headed.

Which has nothing to do with your espousing that unemployment benefits are the driver of labor shortages. In fact, here, you are arguing the exact opposite.
Id quit now why you can salvage at least a little bit, not much, but a little

Right. You backed off that and got more "nuanced" when called on it, but don't act like you didn't initially try to make that very argument

what those of us who have experienced the issue first hand are trying to tell you all is this...
Sounds terrible my brother
I’m very sorry you have to go through this shite while others in here laugh in your face because the cowards they are
I will pray for you during these times and hope you get through this rough times well

1. You, or her, are almost certainly lying

They didn't have this problem before the government checks started flowing.
They also didn't have 75% or more of downtown workers in metro area still working from home. There's a lot easier way to make minimum wage now than haveing to work a register.

so when all else fails, just call the person blowing up your position a liar.
If you want to be willfully ignorant, that's your business.

I'm not going to back off anything I said. I have, and am currently, seeing everything I've said happen. I don't care what you and Mingo "think" you may know.

Yes, collecting unemployment.
Why would you do Uber Eats when you can file some paperwork and let the tax payer support your worthless arse?

Have you looked at the posts on this board? Things are said more often not that can be indisputedly proven false.
This is the shite where your sister may have been told this once over twenty interviews and because it fits her talking point it turned into "no one is coming back because unemployment"
Again, it happens, but you and others acting like it's the sole, or even most material, reason is just straight up wrong.

You literally argued something and then a few posts later said no one was arguing that

I don't pretend to know anything about this situation. I'm as ignorant as they come to all of this as this hasn't reached my little bubble yet, so I'm reading this thread as a curious outsider and found your posts conflicting.

For reasons already described, you have no income verification, they are finite in time, etc, etc.

watching cognitive dissonance occur in real time is quite fascinating.

Youre right man, I believe your sister who works at fricking Petsmart over econimoists and professors at Wharton.

Yes.. I said people are quitting and then filing for unemployment. Then someone else said that you can't file for unemployment if you quit. I then said, no doubt not arguing that you are technically supposed to be able to file for unemployment if you quit. I and another poster then gave examples of what is currently being done to navigate around this.
Again, I don't really care if y'all believe or don't. I'm just telling it how it is currently in my area

You should. Youve completely ruined your credibility on this board with anyone with a brain.

and back it up with some tried and true appeal to authority.
brilliant.
never mind that conservatives were predicting this *exact* situation over a year ago when these increased unemployment benefits were being discussed in congress.
Now that the predictions have 100% come true, you idiots are tripping all over yourselves to fined alternative explanations.
