So he wants to play football in the NFL but since no one will sign him......now all of a sudden it's a "sacrifice". So instead of "sacrificing" his career for something he strongly believes in....he's suing the NFL

What happens when or if a team offers to sign him...is he going to say no and stand by his "sacrifice"?

If you were buying original air jordans, you probably aren't really their target market now.

Sigh.

He strongly believes in it, right or wrong. He could have backed down from his protest and he'd have been signed quite some time ago. Teams made offers that were below his on the field value because of his protest. He declined those offers. He thinks the NFL collectively lowballed him due to his protest. He's probably right. He's suing because he thinks they were wrong to do that. A court will ultimately decide that one way or the other.

Your understanding of the word "sacrifice" seems to be lacking. If someone who lost their leg in Iraq wishes he had his leg back, does that make it less of a sacrifice? That's the kind of logic you're using.

You can discuss what I believe to be a dumb move on Nike's part without starting a thread telling all your conservative e-pals that you're not buying their products anymore.

Does that person have the right to sue the Army because he lost his leg...and at the same time go around on a soap box saying he sacrificed his leg for your right of freedom of speech?

so let me get this straight

slackster states Kap gave up his career in the nfl for his beliefs
Kap was offered spots on teams but declined because it wasnt what he thought his value was

that doesnt jive with what slackster was implying

The implication is that the NFL owners colluded to only offer him lowball offers as a result of his protest, which would be against the collective bargaining agreement if true.

I don't know if that happened. All the evidence to support or refute that allegation will be offered in court later this year.

But he sacrificed his NFL career.......but if they wanted to pay him more he would have signed.....but instead he chose not to play football instead and now is saying he sacrificed everything

Placed several "short" orders this morning before the opening bell.

Cashed one in after lunch.

Will wait for the ebb and flow of the rest.

He could have gone on with (what I presume was, I don't watch NFL football) a good NFL career. Instead, he stood up for what he believes, and now he's a controversial figure that everyone who has blindly aligned themselves with everything right winged hates. As evidenced by this 20-something page long thread about boycotting an entire brand because he appeared in one of their ads.
