Are you going to research the political leanings and stances of every company with whom you do business, or just Nike?

What did he give up exactly?
Who is Nike targeting with this marketing?
Why does Nike use a non-employeed athlete for this campaign?
Why did Kaepernick protest originally?
Why does a sport/shoe company getting involved in politics?
Many actual violations that go along with ethics in the media - but hey , who cares about that shite in 2018.
Then you get mad when consumers voice their opinion on social media, which is the best and easiest way for consumers to react.

He sacrificed his career in the NFL.
He had no idea he would lose his career...that was the consequences of his dumb actions.

He's suing because he believes it was taken from him illegally.
So what happens if he wins the suit and gets a job??? What did he sacrifice?
If he would have known that he would lose his job and never play football in the NFL he wold have done things different......he would would have know that he would never play again going into his protest...then thats a sacrifice and he wouldn't be suing the NFL
You cant sacrifice something then sue to get it back......thats not what sacrifice means
quote:
You think he's gained millions of dollars as a result of his protest?
Yes....in the long run he will be much better off than making the league minimum for a few years as a back up QB......

He'd be a QB on an NFL roster if hadn't protested.

I'm generally not sure. I don't see the upside of their move here other than to generate buzz.

It's hard to spin his situation as a sacrifice if he was employed by an NFL team, right?
quote:
Why did Kaepernick protest originally?
What he believes to be racially motivated police brutality.
quote:
Why does a sport/shoe company getting involved in politics?
Why does any company? It's not a smart move, but it doesn't make it unethical.

I don't get mad about it. Pointing out someone is virtue signaling in response to virtue signaling doesn't mean you're mad.

Is that "running to social media" or starting a discussion on a discussion board?

I tend to ruffle peoples feathers

You don't understand what virtue signalling is, apparently.
I know the definition. It just doesn't seem to fit when someone follows through with their stance. It's like overusing "racist" in the media or "melt" on the poli board. Just trying to start a conversation.

He had the chance to do this and didn't change anything.

I wholeheartedly disagree with that from a financial standpoint. Backup QBs don't get league minimum anyways. Hell, Chase Daniels signed a $10MM contract with $7MM guaranteed and he's a worse QB than Kaep.

Boycotting a company and publicly announcing that you are boycotting are two separate actions.
Whether you follow through with the boycott or not has no bearing on whether or not you took the time and effort to proclaim that you're boycotting on social media.

Refusing to buy Nike products and telling no one about it is NOT virtue signaling. Starting a thread to tell everyone you've stopped buying their products IS virtue signaling.

While I don't believe in their politics, Nike makes a solid product.
I guess I'm just lucky my sensibilities don't outweigh my practicality.
