Does anyone know if Wells Fargo will defer a few months payments for flood victims?

I don't know for sure but with that being said, absolutely not. For all you know, your mortgage is paying into a dozen different locations around the world. And they don't know or care anything about your circumstances.

why are you asking? Be a true American and just post on social media that they are not considering the welfare of flood victims.

The temporary relief on deferred mortgage payments would likely come from the government (FEMA) instead of the bank.

honestly man your situation sucks, and I feel horrible. I think if you cant make your payment via savings that you should try to ask family/friends first and if that doesnt work your last resort could be the dreaded gofundme. It seems to work for a lot of people. I would try everything else first personal loans, lines of credit, whatever but gofundme and sharing it on you and your wifes facebook should get whatever help you need in the end. Good luck

My heart goes out to you.

I have read that you can ask for a deferment for a year on your mortgage if you flooded. Obviously, the one year gets tacked on to the end of your mortgage.

For auto loans they do have disaster relief policies that would help customers in such a situation. I would guess it would be the same for a mortgage but not sure.

Chase is. Got an email yesterday from them. I do not need it, fortunately.

Yes, they should. All Large mortgage companies do for the most part.

Wells fargo told us that NO, they do not defer payments. They will allow you to skip a few payments but expect you to catch them all up at the end of the three months. That is all they will do,.

Wells definitely doesn't play that game.

WF is terrible to deal with
Posted on 8/27/16 at 7:41 pm to Breauxsif
Local/regional lenders are much more sympathetic and easier to deal with

I think they sent me an email saying they would.
This is what I got:
To our customers affected by recent flooding
We're here to help. Contact us to report property damage or financial hardship.
Call 1-888-818-9147 for disaster assistance

Yes! They sent us the same email. They do nothing, they just push the payment down a few months and then you must catch it all up. No deferrment.

What about car loans, too? As sucky as it is, private companies don't have any obligation to suspend loan payments. And even if they did, they would just add interest on top of what you are already paying, wouldn't they?

They told me the same. I didn't have to pay anything for three months, but would have to pay ALL of that back at the end of those three months. Yea, I'll pass on that.
