The welfare system absolutely discourages putting in more hours or striving for promotions. It is the antithesis of what capitalism encourages.

But the libbies like to delude themselves into thinking this isn't the case. Naive little libbies.

You calling me "Bernie Sanders arse" when you are the one who agrees with the government giving someone a certain amount of money every month while they only work a little bit.

Not to mention, I am talking about people who are getting paid in cash. Which goes unreported.. Because if they did report it, they would have to only make so much, but yeah.. I am the Bernie supporter.

It’s ok to admit you are wrong.

Or will you be telling me which race I think is superior and which I’m judging? How long should I wait.

You are defending the welfare recipient receiving food stamps. She cut her hours from full time to part time so she can stay on food stamps.

Yet, the dude that is practically blind and receives a disability check is the pos for doing an occasional side gig playing music for cash

I dont follow your logic. One WANTS to work and the other WANTS a free ride.

ETA : Occassional playing music for cash.

Bingo. It's the welfare trap. Workers do better earning 200-300 a week and maximizing benefits

Walmart is the biggest proponent of welfare because be they benefit from two ways. They get to keep a certain amount of employees working less than 30 hours so they don't have to pay benefits, which increases their bottom line. The people that don't want to work more hours and receive food stamps typically buy most of their food from Walmart because it's cheap, which boosts their income. Win, win

While true, the statement is one of of omission.

quote:

Before the introduction of the welfare state in the mid 1960s, a higher percentage of blacks were employed than whites, more teenage blacks were employed than teenage whites

What was the average income of whites compared to blacks? It could be argued that Blacks during this time period were less educated and therefore earned less and had a lower standard of living. As for teenagers, it is often a necessity for low income families to require their children to work in order to maintain a sufficient living (ie its probably to pay bills not luxury).

quote:

black people had children out of wedlock at near the same level as whites, and got married at near the same rate as whites.

During this time period Blacks were heavily discriminated against in both public and private ventures. This level of discrimination against any identity group (Irish, Eastern Europeans, etc) usually creates a stronger in-group protection. When the world is against you, you cling to each other. Socially you had to form stronger bonds intraracially because otherwise youd be ostracized.

This isnt saying marriage SHOULD have declined, rather it just gives context as why it was high in the first place. It wasnt the generation of the Great Society that saw large marital drops, it was the generations afterward.

This is the REAL reason welfare will never change. Big box stores have too much investment into welfare. "Helping lazy people" is just a scapegoat used by politicians.
