I really enjoy North Atlanta suburbs. Fantastic schools, nice lakes and rivers, and mountains within an hour. And with ATL airport, you can fly direct anywhere.

True, but you left out soulless and devoid of character with zero identity. Strip malls and subdivisions and traffic.

Crossville, Tennessee is a nice place to live.

I'll be sure to "cross" that one off the list.

If I can’t afford to live in Mt Pleasant, then I wouldn’t move to Charleston

I have seen a lot of things in the N GA mountains, but never a scorpion. Do you mind sharing exactly where this was?

When my parents bought a house that had just been built in Ringgold, GA in the mid 80s, we used to see scorpions in the basement on a pretty regular basis.

Gross .

I dont know how anyone’s who’s left Louisiana for good can even consider going back as an option.. If it’s that important to be “close” to family, then find a way to move them to wherever you are, instead of feeling obligated to rejoin them in the cesspool .. Im in Nashville, and it’s only about an 8 hr drive to La. , which seems extremely close to me, i can do that drive in a day- compared to living in other parts of the country or the world .. but the winters here seem to last forever, and it’s one of the most expensive real estate markets in the country, so id probably choose another place .

I considered Nashville before coming to Hoover. Still wonder how it would have went. I just didn’t have enough info about the work force

In Nashville? I moved from TN to Central Oregon and still don't think that Winters are all that long/bad.

The worst thing that I can remember about Winters in TN is that there was a lot of gray, rainy days and not a lot of leaves on the trees.

I love the cold weather. I'd live in Maine but I'd probably have to get divorced for that. But I'd settle for a place that didn't get as hot as the Deep South with 4 seasons.

I have found that Nashville’s pretty similar to most medium-growing-into-large size cities, in that there are some skechy areas and some nice areas- but the skechy areas (from what ive seen) arent as skech as other cities im familiar with (ie BR, NOLA and Dallas)- but the nice areas are absolutely beautiful.. of course, ive always been a big city guy so i personally couldnt live in Crossville or even Chattanooga or someplace like that, but for a bigger city, i find Nashville very liveable - IF you arent a poor and can afford it .

Yeah not a big city guy. The one main thing I've liked about the WFH trend in my industry is mobility. My ideal setting is maybe outside of a city of 20-30k people.
