Weekly F Cancer Thread - Man's Best Friend Edition

Final final tests today that our little guy, 7.5 years old, has a bad case of malignant spleen cancer. Hemangiasarcoma. Nasty one that spreads fast. All over - lungs,spleen, a muscle tumor or two.
I know a lot of us has dealt with it. Never easy, this one is particularly tough just based on our circumstances. We moved many, many states away and it really is just the three of us. Honestly though, COVID made us stay home with him the last three weeks. Bright sides I guess.
He's actually in decent spirits, so we'll do what we can, but he won't make it much further.
Love em while you can.

Sorry to hear that . It’s had to loose a good friend. We lost our Border Collie to Bladder cancer . He was 10 .

Agreed. This is the plan. Do what we can while we can and he can.
He really is ok, vet says pain is minor now. At some point within the next couple of weeks his lungs will get worse. That's probably it. We have no idea when that happens, so it's good that we'll make every day as best it can until we can't.
It's weird to know it's coming, but not know exactly when.

My little guy started getting bumps about a year ago over different parts of his body. I was really scared that it might be some form of cancer. Fortunately the vet took one look at him and said that they’re just benign fatty deposits that are strictly due to his age and genetics. I nearly cried hearing the good news.

Sucks man. My little mutt is 13 and has really started slowing down the last few months. He's been my boy since I was fifteen years old. Gonna be rough when the day comes.

Yeah, we were hoping for better news, but blood tests and CT scans, pretty much confirmed the worst.

I’m dreading the day I have to watch my pup go through pain. It’s been 10 years with her and I think about it way too much. Love them while you can.

Hate to hear that. I had to have my 15 yo pup euthanized last Friday - still tear up thinking about it. I had a vet come to my house for the euthanasia. My regular vet gave me a tranquilizer for her to take about an hour before the Dr Kervorkian vet arrived. She fell asleep on the bed and never knew the vet was here. Just fell asleep one final time, very peaceful. I highly recommend doing it at home. At least her last moments weren’t scared and shivering at the vet’s office, which she hated.

it is. I had to put my 16YO pup to sleep a few weeks ago. Got home around 5:30PM and sat in the carport with her for an hour. Just me and her. She slept in my lap the whole time. Was a great way to say goodbye after all these years. She was ready when we finally sent her on her way. But I will always be grateful for that last hour with her.

I have a 13 year old Golden that was getting progressively worse from Cancer but I started giving him Omega 3, Tumeric, and Mushroom bites and he is doing a lot better. All 3 are said to be good at fighting cancer and the mushrooms have shown great promise for dogs with cancer. It won't cure mine (though some say the mushrooms have cured their dogs) but it can prolong his life and the Tumeric can also help manage his pain on top of fighting cancer growth.
Here is what I bought for mine.

Mushroom Bites
Omega 3
I have also read great things about this supplement but it also contains the same mushrooms I am already giving mine so I don't want to overload him.

Appreciate that.
Would love to give it a shot, but probably too far down the path at this point. If we would have caught it earlier, definitely. But it's in his spleen with multi multi-centimeter tumors and multiple nodules in his lungs, it's a bad situation.
Definitely good to know for the future though.
