Thinking of catching a Braves' Spring Training game in late March/early April and staying in Disney Fri-Sun. Does the ESPN complex have enough to keep a couple people entertained for a half of a day after the game?

Is it worth trying to see one or two other parks while we're there? If so, which ones?

Concerned it's a little late to try and plan this, I always hear about people planning Disney a year in advance. I'm also booking for Food & Wine fest later this year as well - so I'll be doing Epcot and another, yet to be determined, park or two then.

Thanks for any advice.

You can get a lot done in a couple of days

I'd focus on Epcot and Magic Kingdom if you can't do all the parks.

You can easily do a park a day. So pick the ones you are interested in the most and go.

If you're doing Epcot in the fall, I would do magic kingdom. Hollywood studios, Epcot , and animal kingdom are all getting a lot of renovations right now.

I'm never doing that shite again, booked the historical least busy week for that this year and it was way worse than some summer trips I have taken. This was middle of the week, not a weekend. Waiting in line for 2-3 hours at every booth for ok food is not my idea of fun. Weekend is much worse cause the locals pour in for the F&W festival.

I wouldn't overlook Epcot in the spring just because you're going in the fall. It's 2 totally different experiences. From March through May, the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is going on. Sure it may sound like it's for chicks, but the park looks incredible during those 3 months. PLUS, Flower and Garden festival is like a mini Food & Wine with food booths scattered throughout World Showcase. I've actually heard many people say that the food is superior during Flower and Garden and, because of its lower profile, it isn't nearly as crowded.

Which week was that? What time did you get to Epcot on those days? I love Food & Wine....going again this October.

Week between Columbus Day and Halloween. We were there all day at Epcot. It was horrible from open to close. Non magic hour day and the Not So Scary was going on at Magic. Have no idea why it was that packed. It was miserable. My parents went later in the week again and it was still awful.

A number of years ago we picked up 10 day, never expiring, Disney passes. We normally go up for 3 days, first day is downtown Disney and a nice meal. Next two days are open to close at the parks. After that kids are whipped no need to return to the parks for a year or two. Grab a cheap hotel room on the property and it is s cheap long weekend

Traditionally that should be a lesser crowded week....I'm not sure how anyone can quantify any week as being the "historically least busy week" though.

Those 2 things probably pushed crowds into the park, to be honest. A LOT of people tend to stay away from parks on the EMH days because they think it will be more crowded....essentially pushing up crowd levels in the other parks. And since the Not So Scary party was going on in MK, that pushed even more people to the other parks (with AK closing at 5 typically and DHS closing at 7 or 8, I'll bet a lot of people said frick it let's just go to Epcot).

There are websites that track park traffic.

Early because I eat like a senior citizen from getting to work so early. And various times throughout the day. Mostly stayed back there.

My parents went on a non NSS day, not sure about EMH, but it was just as crowded the day we went. It was just a nightmare at all the parks that week. Universal wasn't too bad except for HHN, they added more HHNs that week because of the crowds. F&W has gotten a good following to it now, it's pretty packed for it now.

Get to the park 30 minutes before it opens. You will get more done in the first 4 hours than you will get done the rest of the day.

I had no issues on rides, we had fast passes set up well in advance. F&W festival is the discussion. I'm not exactly an early morning drunk, especially with my child and parents around.

I'm fully aware of the sites that track that sort of thing....but they don't have official park attendance figures and they base their claims off of observations and estimates. Again, they can make a claim that it's the historically least crowded week, but there's still no way for them to know.

What's early? The times I've been I've gotten there at park opening and move back to World Showcase well before it opened. You can hit several booths fairly early at the front of the lagoon and work your way back, usually beating the crowds. Some people even suggest going all the way to the back right at rope drop in World Showcase and starting at the American Adventure pavilion, working your way up one of the 2 sides.

There are definitely fewer and fewer "down" times at the Orlando parks nowadays. And Disney knows how to sell the less crowded times to boost attendance by offering free dining plans and other resort discounts. We were there in late January and it was more crowded than we anticipated.

It's definitely crazy popular...especially with the locals. I think many locals have decided to skip weekends and start going on week days as well.

Food and Wine was great last fall and doing Garden in Epcot in May this year. Started staying at Port Orleans Riverside. A little more than the economy places but well worth it by the time you pay to get in and park, the proximity to the park on a quick direct bus line and to the new Disney Springs by boat. Unless we need to get rum, mixers or junk food, the car never leaves the parking lot.

No matter where I've stayed, I hardly ever take the car anywhere (assuming we drove to Orlando). The buses don't bother me at all. I'd much rather leave the driving to someone else. And, if I stay anywhere remotely close to the monorail or with a boat launch I'm taking those options because I'm just a big ol' kid that fricking loves the monorail. Hell, I'll take a boat from Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary just so I can ride the monorail to MK or Epcot.

And Disney Springs is looking awesome. I think it's going to be a huge draw once they complete the Town Center section. There are some great dining options there already, and I could easily see people spending an entire day there.

The one thing that HAS kept me away from Riverside is the bus situation with multiple stops. We stayed at Caribbean Beach and it took forever to get around the resort. We love French Quarter though. Great location and very compact.
