Stayed at French quarter earlier this month

Never had any issues riding the buses. They rarely made any other stops but I've heard it's different for many other resorts

The resort was compact but they did put us in the farthest building from the bus stop

Went in early November a year and a half ago. It was pretty perfect. It would have been better had Vadal Alexander not gotten flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct against Alabama.

I'm fully aware of the sites that track that sort of thing....but they don't have official park attendance figures and they base their claims off of observations and estimates. Again, they can make a claim that it's the historically least crowded week, but there's still no way for them to know.

Since they use the same data year in and year out, they can track that kind of information. There are all sorts of methods they can obtain a generic crowd size without official Disney numbers. That part is pretty easy.

quote:

What's early? The times I've been I've gotten there at park opening and move back to World Showcase well before it opened. You can hit several booths fairly early at the front of the lagoon and work your way back, usually beating the crowds. Some people even suggest going all the way to the back right at rope drop in World Showcase and starting at the American Adventure pavilion, working your way up one of the 2 sides.

We normally do the back forward method, but the F&W festival is a different story. It's not rides, it's food. A healthy person is not going to stuff his face as quickly as possible at park open. You are going to be doing this at various times throughout the day. You may not be this type of person and may be called a "Pooh" sized person by Disney and can do this early morning gorge, I am not that type of person.

Nicely veiled insult. Well done.

I never said anything about gorging yourself. You can walk about at a leisurely pace and still enjoy. I guess I should have also added that if you tried to fit all of Food & Wine into a single day then you made a serious mistake.

There are no issues with the bus at French Quarter. It's only got one bus stop for the resort. What I was getting at was that at resorts like Riverside, Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs that are large and spread out, they have a loop around the entire resort with multiple bus stops. Buses come in from the parks and run the loop before heading out. Our experience at Caribbean Beach was that it seemed to take forever to run that loop given the size of the resort and having to wait for people to unload and load. And with the number of ECVs in the parks nowadays, bus loading can take even longer as you may have an ECV at a few different stops. That's swayed us away from booking at Riverside.

Now is a really nice time of year here in Orlando.

I would do
1. MK
2. Epcot. Evenings are better have dinner there. I recommend Japan. Make a reservation!
3. Animal Kingdom. Get there early so you can see more of the Coptic animals. It closes early.

Orlando is really pleasant in the spring. It is about 75 degrees and really sunny. The rest of the year it is hot as balls.

We did the Food and Wine Premium Package last year and never worried about crowds. We just strolled along at our own pace to each Premium area and had cast members go get our food. We will never do F & W any other way. To the OP, The time you will be in Disney, I would be a bit hesitant to hit EPCOT. It is a weekend and the new Frozen ride MAY have just opened. Hit up Magic Kingdom Friday, Animal Kingdom Saturday and maybe Hollywood Studios Sunday. Either way, enjoy being in "the World".

I have no idea if you are big or not.

Not trying to fit it all in a day. Just trying to get some of it. Most lines were at least an hour long, anything that looked remotely delicious was about 2 hours wait around normal eating times. Line did not dip much below that during off hours. Hell, my parents took my kid with them back to the hotel so me and my wife could have some alone time and they were bad right up until park closing. It was just ridiculous that week. Park was shut for capacity extremely early and stayed that way for most of the day.

This may be the way to go if I go back during that time frame. Just wasn't as enjoyable as some of the other times of year. Didn't really enjoy HHN at Universal, NSS was pretty cool to see how all out people went for it.

We went the first week in October and enjoyed ourselves. Crowds were fairly low, by Disney standards, and we got everything we wanted to do, done. The prior year we went the first week in November and it was glorious.

Does the ESPN complex have enough to keep a couple people entertained for a half of a day after the game?

No, not really. But without a ticket we have always had fun touring and drinking around the monorail. Stop at each resort, find a bar (some of them will only have pool bars open before 5 pm), grab an app and walk round a bit then head to the next one.

If that doesn't excite you, Downtown Disney / Disney Springs doesnt require a ticket either.

Is it worth trying to see one or two other parks while we're there? If so, which ones?

Yes. Any time I go to Disney World I want to visit the parks. How long I am there and who I am with determines what parks and what I do in those parks.

quote:

Concerned it's a little late to try and plan this, I always hear about people planning Disney a year in advance.

Alot of people do, and alot of people don't. Just have realistic expectations . This crowd calendar and website will be a great reference point for where to go and more importantly, were NOT to go.

The entrance to EPCOT tucked back between Canada/England and the bridge to France is the easiest entrance I have ever see for the FW and Garden Festivals

aiting in line for 2-3 hours at every booth for ok food is not my idea of fun.

an EXTREME exxageration on any weekend for F&W but yeah...avoid certain parks on certain days regardless of the crowd level.

The slower the parks are in general, the more important it is to pick the more recommended park.

if the overall crowd level (all parks) is predicted to be a 4/10 that means Epcot could be a 2/10 and Hollywood Studios can be a 8/10 so picking the right park is essential.

When the overall crowd level is an 8/10, all the parks will be crowded and although some will be more crowded than others, the difference isn't as extreme

I wouldn't overlook Epcot in the spring just because you're going in the fall. It's 2 totally different experiences. From March through May, the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is going on. Sure it may sound like it's for chicks, but the park looks incredible during those 3 months.

Here's an example of Epcot during Flower and Garden:

Yep. The International Gateway is great for Food & Wine. We stayed at the Yacht Club resort back in October 2014 and it was perfect for enjoying Food & Wine.

I mostly agree...The best times (in regards to crowd levels) will be the first two hours and the last hour the park is open.

While they may not have the official attendance, they can get official wait times which is a much better factor in determining how "crowded a park is".

They use historical data combined with holidays, park hours, events and a few other pieces of data and for the most part are pretty accurate.

Take a look at Easy WDW predictions vs actual and you'll see it runs pretty close.

We are considering a long weekend trip just to see the F&G at EPCOT. As far as planning, we have done the two week trip that I planned a year in advance and we have done the spur of the moment trip that we planned when we got there. Both were very enjoyable. It all depends on who you are with and how flexible you can be.

Rent DVC points if you're not an owner at stay at Yacht or Beach Club or Boardwalk (my preference) and have the ability to walk to 2 of the 4 parks.

With so much uncertainty of what will and won't be open at HS during Toy Story and Star Wars Lands construction it's lose some value but during F&W it can't be beat.

Cruise is expensive, but the ships are very nice. I didn't know that getting the kids pics with the characters was a big deal on the ship because it happens all the time. Went to the parks and saw the difference. Under 5 kids will probably enjoy the ships more. The shows on the ships are incredible
