Maybe turn the 60k wedding into a 30k wedding next time. You gotta love how much money women with MRS degrees "need" to spend on a wedding.

My wife’s coworker is asking for all sorts of crazy shite — see what they are asking for

A turtle speaker? A laptop? Drone? Kids these days are so fricking stupid.

You do realize that people used to go to stores and do a "gasp", wedding registry, right?

This isn't a new thing. It's just more convenient now.

Registries are the most functional thing to ever exist as it pertains to gift giving, better than letters to Santa.

A $400 countertop water purification system? TWO different honeymoon funds? A foldable BATHTUB TRAY? Full of Williams Sonoma and Le Creuset, total shocker.

I love it when they ask for expensive shite they would never buy if they were spending their own money

I love a good registry. Tells me exactly what the couple needs and I’m happy to oblige.

Also love when a couple who already has a home and houseware to just put up a Honeymoon registry. Throw some cash at their trip and easy peasy.

we didn’t do a registry for my second marriage (her first). Matter of fact we made it clear that gifts were not expected

One of the gifts we got was an electric towel warmer LOL. I just uncovered it out of a closet we are removing…I think we’ve kept it twenty years just because it’s so ridiculous

so, no registry = towel warmer

I find it to be a very convenient concept.

Makes it much easier on me trying to buy a couple a gift, and also it helped ensure that we weren’t going to get a bunch of useless shite when we were the recipients.

Yep. It's a dumb concept. Not sure why anyone would be pissed about getting 73 cutting boards.

What’s the fun in that? Isn’t a gift supposed to be a surprise? I wouldn’t have any fun opening presents if I always knew what was under the wrapping.

registry are nice for the couple so they don't get a million cheese boards and other useless shite that they will never use

Yes. Please buy me something I didn't ask for and watch it be marked for 95% off at a yard sale in 2 years.

Registries have been around forever to help newlyweds stock their homes with necessities. I don’t think it’s stupid and would rather give something they want or need.

LONG before registries became popular on the internet, the couple registered at various stores picking out things they wanted/needed. This is not a new thing. My Mom was married in the 50's and registered at stores, so it's at least that old.

when we did our registry the girl at bed bath and beyond told us to just scan basically everything even the high dollar items because you never know who might buy it for us. we did and got an enamel cast iron out of it. we also got a bunch of regifted items like a set of ugly arse coffee mugs from some one who obviously bought them at a yard sale...it was funny opening them and throwing them straight into the trash. no name on the gift so no guilt.

You do realize that gift registries for weddings predate the internet. It predates television.

The registry is just a suggestion. Here's a concept, you don't HAVE to get then something on it.

Wedding registries predate the internet by decades, if not centuries. I’m not even sure how long they’ve been around.

As a giver, I think it's great because I often can't think of a great gift. The registry takes the thinking out of it and can help avoid duplicate gifts.
