I just purchased a the $499 Weber Spirit grill on Sunday. It looked like a high-quality grill from my research. Now I hope yall don't shite on that purchase.

That's the one I was looking at. I got to Lowe's and started having second thoughts after really looking at that and the Genesis. Figured I'd do a bit more research before pulling the trigger.

Anyone use a LNG grill instead of LP? Pros? Cons?

good thread.

i *almost* pulled the trigger on one of those infrared charbroil grills because i love how juicy steaks are cooked that way.

however the horror story reviews made it seem like even with a cover and doing everything to protect these they turn to rust after 2 seasons.

i aint spending $500 on a grill just to have to turn around in 2 years and buy it again.

i want something that will last 5-10 years. that shouldn't be such a stretch.

NG is cheaper if you have it plumbed already.

Webers are worth every dime. Made from the materials that last and their service is exceptional. They will usually come out to you for service while the unit is still warranted.

Char Broil has started carrying parts similar to Weber.

Goodwood Hardware is an authorized Weber dealer and has every Weber part known to man. That place is a Man's Store.

I think so - I've been using the same gas grill for over 10 years.

Yeah, that's why I'm leaning that way. But I'm wondering if the limited portability of the grill has anyone regretting the decision to go with the LNG model instead of LP.

We've always found our Weber grills to last many years - even decades.

But our Char Broil Tru-Infrared Grill does a vastly better job cooking most cuts of meat. The results are always consistent, the meat is never dry, and there's never a flare-up.

Unfortunately Char Broil build quality has been terrible; we replaced our first Char Broil after about 3 years. The first unit we bought had rusted-through grilling pans and a failed thermostat within 2 years, plus the stamped metal had so many sharp edges that you'd cut your hand if you tried to roll the grill by tugging on the shelves.

I'll say the same thing about my Weber. Once I dialed in the cooking times on steaks, burgers, whatever (on how we like them cooked), I just look at my watch to flip them and they always come out the same......every time.

$4 can of black hi-temp spray paint w/ rust stop in it will prevent rust issues. Spray a good coat on it plus put a cover on your grill and it will last you a while. As long as you take care of your stuff a $200 grill will last you a long time.

Tough to spray paint stainless steel.

Let me clarify, on the cheaper grills that people say are rusting out. Put a cover on the stainless grills. Lot's of moisture in the air in LA if you don't have a cover your an idiot

So, you've used both a Weber and a Char Broil Tru-Infrared series and can say the Weber is 'vastly better'?

I bought the natural gas version a couple of weeks ago. I've cooked steak, burgers, and chicken so far and I have no complaints at all. It also cleans up easy.

We are talking about those $300 stainless steel grills from Char-Broil and others. They rust out inside of a couple of years even with a cover and you can't spray paint the stainless steel. Even with a cover on the grill the humidity in the air will still get to the grill. The burners are also trashed within a couple of years use as well.

I'm thinking of buying that exact grill as I have a ton of gift cards and credit card point to use at Lowes and am wanting an infrared grill.

As for the parts, I'm pretty sure Char-Broil will now send replacement parts if they rust out

My Char-Broil was covered and I cleaned it...but the back rusted out after 5 years of moderate use. I'm not complaining about it. I got a good bit of use out of it. Now, I want something that will last even longer.

I have LNG plumbed to my patio but have never hooked the grill up to it as I'm worried it will be too close to the siding and melt it.
