I wore my LSU gear in Mexico (puerto aventuras) last year. They were in the World Series and I did find fans to cheer with while there. I don't feel douchey. Must be ok.

I think it’s only okay if you actually graduated from the college you are representing.

And FWIW, I did not take a single thing with UGA on it when I was in Asia last month.

Wore a fleece with a small LSU logo on it in London. One young Brit outside a pub asked me about the football team. He said he watched a fair amount of our football.

Met two girls in a pub. One was Australian and had friends in New Orleans who took her to a game in Tiger Stadium.
