Parents flew in this past weekend to visit us in Austin from Asheville. Thought my dad was gonna die when he stepped off the plane with how hot it was. They haven't been to Louisiana/Texas in months so it was a shock

News flash...people are different and like different things. I'm on the same side as OP. I am 1.5 hours from the Canadian border, it was 43 degrees when I took the dogs outside this morning. I was wearing my standard jogging shorts, t-shirt and flip flops outside and it was glorious...to me. Give me a long winter with tons of snow and average temps in the teens over long summers with averages in the 90s all day long!

get back to me in january

the cold isn't the worst thing about winter...you can just throw a jacket on. and on sunny days with no wind, 25-30 is beautiful day. plus it's ski season.

the bummer about winter is the fact that the trees lose their leaves and it gets dark at 3:30 or 4PM.

I think you actually nailed it for me. I don’t dislike the cold, I dislike the cold where I can’t ski and there’s no sun.

I still wouldn’t want to live in a place like Lake Tahoe full time, but visiting in the winter is great.

This is definitely a key component to enjoying a cold climate. I have 16 ski areas within a 90 min drive radius and the state snowmobile trail system is literally in my backyard. I have granted them private landowner rights for use and they keep it maintained. These are some of the things that make winter life the life for me.

Sunny cold days are underrated

Even if you’re talking 40s or 50s

Jealous !

Like Fall Guy said, we're in for 5 months of totally miserable weather. Late OCT can't come soon enough.

Tbh 50 degrees in late may sounds horrendous. May is the beginning of pool season, still crawfish boil weather baseball and patios here in God's country Baton Rouge, LA.

50 degrees is the perfect low temp any time of year. need to move somewhere every morning in the 50’s and afternoons in the 70’s
