I feel like I'm one of the few people who don't really care about the time changing one way or the other. It's just an hour.

Besides my own personal preference, studies have shown that year-round DST would reduce traffic accidents and fatalities, save energy, spur economic activity, and lower crime rates in the evenings.

Same studies show year-round Standard time results in same thing.

More importantly, it's something to bitch about.

This is my real stance. I don't mind changing clocks at all and it's the optimum solution. But what I can't believe that people are so fragile that losing (or gaining) 1 hour of sleep "ruins" them for days.

But this is coming from someone who's lucky to get 6 hours of sleep a night...

A lot of people have workdays that require them to work certain hours so they can't knock off at 3 to enjoy the "evening light".

Like government workers. Contractors need light early.

Someone posted this link that compares always Standard time, Daylight Saving, and our current biannual system. It's customizable for zip codes and daylight hours, sunrise, etc.

If you actually stepped one foot in my mom's room, my elderly dad would put a bullet in you. Actually, you wouldn't make that far....

So knock off the sophomoric jokes, OK.

It still gets dark before 6…

And it doesn’t get light till 8 am…

Exactly how does it reduce traffic accidents and save energy? The sun rises and sets the same time no matter where you set the clock.

I’ve always wondered if their irrational fear also strikes them when they cross time zones.

That would be funny, but if it doesn’t happen, the cognitive dissonance would be even more hilarious

feel like people overreact to the whole time change thing. I’m not a big fan of Standard Time, but I also realize that we have Standard Time because it would be dark well into the morning if we stayed on Daylight Savings Time.

In parts of the country it wouldn’t be light out until almost 10am. This is something only Congress has the authority to change if we’re still using that constitution thing.

You get off work at 3?

Cause if you get off at 5pm, that leaves about 45 minutes of twilight to do anything. Not like the summer months when the days are longer.
