Settle down. Costco isn't forcing them on you. If you don't want to pay extra for cage-free eggs, go to Albertson's and get regular, hen-abusive eggs there.

It does appear that being an idiot is easier than ever.

whats ironic is the mortality rate for chickens is higher when they arent in cages
Yeah because they get snatched up by coyotes and what not

its due to a number of reasons but yea more get killed in a cage free environment. i guess the ones that live have better lives though

Just bought 24 for $3.99. But definitely just the white eggs. Don't want no brown ones in my house!

Except for the constant fear of being killed because the "free range chickens" can't live in a safe, coyote free cage.

The biggest price factor in eggs is the avian flu. It's decimated a lot of flocks. Egg farms that have kept the flu out of their chickenhouses are making serious bank.

Cage free really isn't that great anyways. The chickens are still trapped, they just have enough room to turn their bodies. Their mortality rate jumps significantly due to health problems, they require more labor to pick up the eggs laid everywhere, and they begin killing each other as they create interior cliques.
But they're "happy".
