She prays he won't testify

That would be the one time I understand her asking him multiple times. Solely to make sure it's clear he heard and refused to answer. I 100% hope he chooses to testify though because he is going to lose his mind on cross.

He has a grandchild from his 15 year old daughter? That's all I will say about that.

Having grown up in Jefferson Parish and attending John Ehret in the late 90s early 2000s, I'm very aware. I will just say that I am extremely happy to no longer live around the culture that produced Brooks.

Rekieta just voiced my exact thought. "It takes a lot to put me on the side of the state."

My dad and I have had this conversation frequently because I am extremely anti-state and on the side of the defendant due to the power and resources of the state. In this instance there is indisputable evidence that Brooks is guilty. Screw him.

The judge asked him if he had anything else before they adjourn about what was just discussed. Bad choice. Should have asked him specific questions.

How does testifying work when you are representing yourself?

Judge finally seems to be getting her balls back. Hopefully she keeps it up next week.

This is going to sound bad, but a part of me hopes he appeals and gets a hearing for no other reason than to make it crystal clear to every judge in the land to not cater to this kind of shite going forward. Our justice system is going to grind to a halt if even a fraction of the arrested start adopting this strategy.

After three weeks he’s now claiming that he did not waive his right to assistance.

I saw someone earlier say that Rekieta, who I think most in this thread have been watching for this trial, stated he thinks that this judge has gone too far in being deferential to Brooks and presents an appealable issue. My thought on that, as someone with no legal education, is that they will not overturn any convictions but, hopefully, admonish the judge for being too deferential to him.

The jury instruction conference is likely to be a cluster if he requests anything and he'll probably object to many.
